Is Sarah too common? Our last name is Smith. Are the two S's a problem? What about Sarah Kate?

Sarah Kate is a nice name but Sarah Smith is too many S's for me.

Good luck.

I think that Sarah is too common. I think I've known about 10 Sara's Sarah's and right now I work with two. But it does sound good with Smith.

in my opinion sarah is too common...and with smith being a common last name, well, the whole name is common. it does sound good together though.

I think Sarah is still an awfully common name. Even if people haven't been using it in recent generations...it's still a well-recognized name. I mean, just b/c a Sarah would be different amid the sea of Kaisyns, Jaidens, Kennedi's, McKenna's and Kayleigh's STILL doesn't mean that it's a "different" name, b/c everyone in her class might still have a Grandma Sarah, or a Great-Aunt Sarah, etc.

So while the name has a nice sound and a lovely meaning, it might seem "old", especially to your daughter and her peers.

I think Sarah is a nice name, but that's all, just nice. And it is definately way too common! Especially Sarah Smith! I hope this helps!

I just had to post - Sarah Smith is my name!!!!!

Here's been my experience - Sarah is a wonderful first name. I'm getting married next year and my Fiance's last name is a bit more difficult than Smith, so it's been nice having a simple first name. Smith is always easy to spell, etc., so I'd say: I've never had a problem with it, so do it!!

As far as middle name, mine has two syllables (it's a family name), so maybe try Sarah Katherine Smith to make it a little bit longer?

Three cheers for Sarah!!!

I definitely think Sarah is too common for Smith. As for the two Ss, some people like alliteration, others don't. I'm one who doesn't like it in most cases.

Sarah's are everywhere - every age.

but if the classics are what you are into, you are going to find that with most classic names.

Sarah Smith will seem very very common I'm afraid.

good luck
