I really like the name Sebastian, although I'm still unsure if I'll be able to sell my husband on it. Do you think of this name as "prissy" or "feminine"? For boy's names, my dh tends to go for more traditional, strong names like Ethan, Michael, etc. What perceptions does the name Sebastian have now days? Is it considered just as strong as these "masculine" names or is too elegant for a boy?

Also, our last name is Thomas....WDYT of Sebastian Thomas? Does it have a good ring to it or should I stick with Ethan Thomas, which is what we've been considering.

I don't think of Sebastian as prissy at all. I know an adorable little boy named Sebastian. His mother is french so they pronounce it "Sebas-tien".
I like both choices with your last name. Actually, as far as last names go, you're very lucky to have Thomas. Mine is a doozy!

I like Sebastian and I can't imagine anyone thinking it was Prissy at all. It a stronger name than Ethan to me. I like Sebastian Thomas really well, great flow!. I'm getting kinda tired of Ethan even though it's a great name. In our area it is used a lot. Sebastian is new and dramatic.

I think Sebastian is a lovely name, I live in Spain and I know a few boys with that name. It's not a femenine name atall and it goes well with your Surname. I prefer it to Ethan because it's not as popular.

Good luck!!

I LOVE Sebastian Thomas... sounds very strong. I know of a little Sebastian that is called "Seb" which I think is extremely cool as well.

Although I like Ethan, I think Sebastian is a better choice!

Good luck!

I like Sebastian and it was on my short list if dd#2 had been a boy. I think it's way cooler than Ethan.

LOVE that name. A million years ago I used to go with a great big Italian named Sebastian and boy could he........foxtrot. Ha ha! Seriously great name and vastly underused. Please do not NN your kid "Sebby" though....horrible.

Thanks for the feedbck on Sebastian! While we're on the subject, what other nn options are there for Sebastian aside from "Seb"? It doesn't seem like a name that has many. Any ideas?

Sometimes we called him Zeb, but it was more of a joke. Mostly he went as Seb but professionally was known as Sebastian. His name really stood out and stuck with you. He was never lost in a sea of Kevins and Mikes. I know sometimes he might have to correct someone who misunderstood it as SeTH. I know a kid named Sebastian but his parents insist on calling him Sebby. Its really awful and the kid hates it too. HTH

I think the name is too fussy for a man. I'm reminded of Sebastian Cabot of "Family Affair" - very fussy.
