WDYT of "September" as a girl's name?

We were thinking about the following names, we like unique names but don't want to curse our children. My MIL loves September as a name but I worry it's stripper or porn star sounding (hay at least I'm honest!):

September Audrey Annatto

Story Lynn Annatto

Alice Katelyn Annatto

Thanks!

I don't think September sounds stripperish at all...it just sounds a bit hippyish (and not severely at that,) a lot like Autumn...kind of warm and wholesome but not exactly a full-blown preppie. I like it. Story...now, Story is...well, another story. My brain is conjuring up a Goth Stripper image (which is a kinda interesting concept, but not where I'd probably want to go when I was naming my daughter.) My favorite is Alice...but, as I always warn people, I have this idea that my son is going to marry an Alice. No idea where that comes from, but there's something so cool, both spunky and sweet about Alice that I just really like (and, no, I'm not going to have a hairy if he doesn't)...so Alice gets my vote.

I agree with PP - September doesn't sound porn star to me.

I think September is OK, actually. Other months (April, May, June, August) have been turned into names so why not September? I would like it better if it had some type of special significance for you (like you got married then, etc.). I don't think it would curse your daughter. It could be stripperish w/ certain last names, but yours sounds fine!

I really, really dislike Story. Since Jenna Elfman just named her kid that, it is now one of those crazy celeb names and it will seem like you're copying, even if you'd been considering it before. It'd be like naming your kid Apple or Pilot. So distinct that it only has that one strong associaiton. I"d avoid it.

I love Alice. It is so simple and pretty. I don't think you can go wrong with it!

Liz

September is okay.. but here's my pet peeve-- I'd only name her that if she was in fact born in September. It really bothers me for some reason to meet Aprils that were born in June, June's in December, etc.

Of all of them, I prefer Alice. It's just a great classic.

Bedredhead~

I feel the same way. I had a student named Autumn who was born in Feb. and it just irked me for some reason.

OP~

Out of your choices, I would prefer Alice. I'm wondering how came to choose this name that seems so different than the other two.

Now I think the opposite. I think it is kind of Hokey to name a September who was born in September, it just re-empahasizes that it is a month and not just a name.

I'm with you...I don't think most of the Aprils I know were born in April, and doubt if many of the babies born now with May or Mae as a mn are being born in May. Now, I might be tempted to do the nudge-nudge-wink-wink thing and name a baby born in June September...

Elyse, I thought the same thing.

OP, I think it's an OK name, but I think I like Alice best. I don't care for Story at all.

Sorry, I don't like it- I don't think it has a pretty or feminine sound to it at all.

The "pt" and "mb" sounds seems awkward and not pretty and lilting to me. I prefer a name that rolls off the tongue and has more of a "lilting" quality to it.

HI! My girlfriends name is September, and she's always had the nn Ember. I know it may sound strange at first, but she gets a lot of compliments on it.

I also don't think it sounds striptease at all! LOL!
