We cannot find the "right" name (m)

I am 23 weeks pg and am anxious to start calling this little girl by name. With my DS, we started calling him by name as soon as we found out he was a he. DH and I just can't seem to come up with a name that we both LOVE.

I would love some suggestions at this point. I would love to find a name that has a "formal" version and a cute nickname. We won't necessarily call her by the nickname, but I want her to have options as she grows up (I didn't since my name is Lisa) I want a name that would fit well has a Supreme Court Justice or a cute little girl...kwim?

Here is an idea of what my and DH style is:
him:
Samantha
Shannon
Danielle (nn Dani)

me:
Annalise (or any spelling variation)
Annalena (pronounced ah-nah-lay-nah, nn Lainie)
Rebecca (nn Becca)
Delaney (nn Laney)
Amelia (any nn suggestions?)

DS's name is Jackson Taylor. Her middle name will be a family name--either Anne, Maurine or Lee(Leigh). Our last name is Gensel (rhymes with pencil) with a hard G.

Thanks for any input and/or suggestions.

Lisa
Due with #2 on March 22, 2006 (it's a girl!)

I'm loathe to suggest this, as it is my # 1 girl name choice and I don't want anybody else using it :) but I like Annalise for you. "Jackson and Annalise" sounds right and maybe your DH will like nn Annie or Lisie since he likes Dani for Danielle.

:)

Sounds like you and your DH have similar styles to me and my DH. The 3 names we took to the hospital with DD#1 were Madeline, Caralyn/Carolyn (nn Cara), and Megan, and we brought home Megan Joy (nn Meg). We struggled a bit more with our 2nd DD, and we named her Julianna May (nn Annie).

Some other names that we considered:

His list -- Katherine, Erin, Samantha, Alexandra, Laura, Olivia, Josephine (nn Josie)
My list -- Amelia (nn Mia), Eliza, Elena, Ava, Margaret (nn Greta), Eleanor/Nora

Good luck finding something you love!

Delaney is by far my favorite from your list - I guess I'm biased since I have a granddaughter, Delaney, but all of the other girls names on both lists are too traditional for my tastes, except Danielle, which I consider to be too 80s. Shannon just isn't feminine. Samantha is OK, not great, I think it's a shame for girls to be called Sam.

we don't call our Delaney "Laney" - but it is a cute nickname

good luck

oh, by the way - Delaney Maurine - of those middle choices (Delaney is Irish, Maureen is Irish, don't know about your spelling of that, but I definitely think it flows well)

Shelby Leigh
Addison Leigh
Julia Leigh

Sabrina Maurene
Candice Maurene
Aubrey Maurene

Taylor Anne
Kelsey Anne
Stella Anne

I vote for Amelia Leigh - could have nn Amy, Lia, Mel, Mia. I like Rebecca too, plenty of nicknames to go with that one - Becca, Becky, Reba

Maurine was my grandmother's name. It is my sister's mn as well. I do not know why it is spelled differently. I kinda like that it is different.

I really like those suggestions. I will add a couple to our list...

Shelby Leigh--can't use, our good friends have a daughter named Shelby.
Addison Leigh--DH already nixed this one, but I love it.
Julia Leigh--not sure...

Sabrina Maurene-- hmmm...potential, except I think of a teenage witch LOL
Candice Maurene--I love it as long as she never gets the nickname Candy.
Aubrey Maurene-- I love it!

Taylor Anne-- DH wanted this one, but I thought that it might be odd with my DS's mn being Taylor. DH actually suggested changing DS's mn. LOL
Kelsey Anne-- our good friends have a daughter named Kelsey
Stella Anne-- interesting choice

Thanks for the help!!
