Can't help but consider the future potential for various "pedo" or "necro" attachments to an Ophelia ending.

I understand your concern. But I would still use Ophelia. I don't consider it among the names that are just opening the door to constant teasing.

You know, I'd never considered that an issue...still don't. By the time kids will be old enough to come up with words like that, they'll probably be old enough that only the most immature/cruelest kids would use that and your child would probably be old enough to remember "if that's the worst they can come up, I'm in good shape."

Go ahead and use Ophelia! The only "negative" association with the name I can think of is that the character in Hamlet committed suicide. That being said, I don't personally know too many kids who would make that association, including the ones who are in or just out of high school, LOL. As for the ones who would? By the time they study Hamlet, she'll more than likely be able to hold her own quite well. Besides, people name their daughters Juliet, and she killed herself as well, after having faked her own death first. In my opinion, Juliet is MUCH more melodramatic than Ophelia, and people still use that name all the time.

Agree with pp that necro and pedo are pretty advanced nn's but "I'll feel ya" is something even a young boy can come up with. Then there's the whole drowning herself thing from Shakespeare. Pretty name except for that.

I think you are thinking too much into this. Young kids don't usually know those words or what they mean, and since
