We need Unbiased Reaction to Boy Names

My husband and I continue to struggle between 3 to 6 boy-names. (We are expecting in November.) Any comments/reactions on the below? (Middle names are family-esk.) We are trying to keep the name a secret from friends & family so we need unbiased reactions--no holds bar.

1) Jason Ray (worries--is it too plain? We don't want the nickname of JR).

2) Jeremy Patrick (worries--is it too plain? We don't want the nickname of JR).

3) Quinton James (we love the nickname Quin but worry that the name is too prissy).

Though I like the name Jason, I think the alliteration produced by the Jay-Ray combo makes it sound too over the top. And yes, you could end up with a JR association.

Quinton, IMO sounds very intellectual. If you are worried about it sounding prissy, why not just name him "Quin"? I like Quin Patrick, Quin Jameson, or even Jason Quin.

As for Jeremy, I don't think it's too plain at all. And the combo there gives you lots of flexibility when it comes to nn's. Jerry, Pat, Rick, JP (unless that is too close to JR.)

Anyway, all MHO's. Good luck in your search!

I like Quintin James. It's not too "prissy". Quin is very masculine.

Have you considered Jason Patrick? It seems to flow better and you can avoid the possible "JR" nn.

I love Jeremy Patrick and Quenton James. I don't think either are plain or prissy. Either one, I don't think you can go wrong. I don't like Jason Ray for a couple of reasons. First, like others said, the Jay-Ray sound is too rhymey. Secondly, I just think Jason is a dated name back to the 80s, when it was so popular. But maybe that's just me! What about Jace Raymond? My favorite is Quinn, though!

Jason Ray - I like Jason; I don't think it's too plain or dated, but I prefer more traditional names (as opposed to trendy and/or unisex names) for boys. I think Jase makes a good nickname, but I would definitely go with Jason as a full name. I prefer Raymond over just Ray. Jason Raymond sounds fine to me, but if (as other posters pointed out) the repetitive "ay" sounds bother you, you could go with Justin Ray. I always think Justin is a similar name to Jason in style and sound.

Jeremy Patrick - I love the name Patrick. Have you considered Patrick Jeremy? I like the sound of that better. A previous poster suggested Jason Patrick, which sounds good as well, but there is an actor named Jason Patric (he was once engaged to Julia Roberts, he was in the movie "Sleepers"). I don't know if that would bother you. Justin Patrick is also a nice combo. I prefer Jason or Justin to Jeremy, but I would definitely consider Patrick as a first name.

Quinton James - Quinton is ok. I don't think it's "prissy," but if Quin is to be the nn, I would just point out that I have heard Quinn being used for girls a lot lately. I really like James. James Quinton or James Patrick are nice combos.

Hope this feedback helps!

Jason Ray - Jay-Ray sound, don't like it. Like Jace but other posters are right it is a nn to my ear. Don't really like the name Jason. I associate it with the 80s too.

Jeremy Patrick - Like the flow of Patrick Jeremy better. I like less traditional names so this one just doesn't ring my bell but there isn't anything wrong with the name.

Quinton James - definitely more my style but I would worry about nn Quin for a boy. Love, love love the name James. I like this name best as James Quinton.

If I can mix and match all of your names my fave is defintely James Quinton. Very cute.
