Weird or pretty?

We're thinking about naming our first daughter Windham (pronounced "windum"). We both think it's beautiful, but I'm afraid she'll spend her life spelling it out or getting puzzled looks. What do you think? Do you like it or not?

We're also considering Susanna Windham. How do you like that?

I just don't like that it's also the name of a hotel chain.

I find Windham quite masculine and surnamey - Susanna Windham, on the other hand, is a whole different matter. It's beautiful and feminine, and you still get to call her Windham.

My mother (who would have been 66 this year) had a very close friend named Wyndham, so I doubt she's was named for the hotel chain.

I guess I'm in the minority. I think it's pretty and I would consider it as a name especially if it was family name. What about Winslow or Willow?

I actually really like Windham. It's unique as a first name, but not made up. I don't find it any more "out there" than other last names-cum-first names like Brighton, Cohen or MacKenzie... which was probably

Windham does sound very masculine, but Susanna windham is very nice.
