Is this a weird way to spell it???

My DH & I have decided to name our DD, due April 9, Alexandra Cathryn. However, our parents think the way we spell Cathryn is weird. I just wanted to know if everybody else feels the same way. Our parents think we should spell it with a K instead, Kathryn, but I don't like the way it looks with a K.
What do you think?

I definitely prefer Catherine to be spelled with a C. The K versions all look lopsided to me for some reason. However, I'm also not a fan of any of the spellings that cut out a syllable of the name...Kathryn, Cathryn, Kathrine, Cathrine, etc. Pronounced properly, the name has 3 syllables, even though the middle one is subtle. I think that removing it takes away some of the integrity of the name. So, I suppose that if the choices are Cathryn and Kathryn, then Cathryn gets my vote. But, if you're still open to other spellings, then Catherine or Catharine gets my vote, instead.
Best of luck, congratulations, and let us know what you decide!

I've seen the name spelled four ways - Kathryn, Catherine, Katherine, Cathryn
the order I listed them in is the way I feel I see them most often to the least.
it seems like the Y was meant to go with the K and ine was meant to go with the C - the last two Katherine and Cathryn, I see occasionally, but not as much as the other two.
spell it the way you want.
good luck.
I personally prefer it with a K, but it looks just fine with a C. I've seen it Cathryn, Kathryn, Katherine, Katharine, Katherin, Catherine, Cathrine, Kathrine, to name a few. There really is no wrong or right way to spell it, it seems.
Good luck,
Ali
