What about Kenzie?

Unlike some of you likely folks we don't know the sex of our baby so we have the pressure of coming up with two names. The boy's name didn't prove to be a problem... we chose Ben. We are still having a lot of difficulty picking a girls name. I don't want a super popular name!

What do you think of the name Kenzie? It's a Scottish name which appeals to us, but what about everyone else? I think it's important to get as much feedback as possible. This is going to be our first decision we make for the baby and I don't want to screw it up!

Help!! Any suggestions would help at this point, I'm due in 47 days (yikes)

Kenzie sounds really incomplete to me, like a nn for McKenzie (FWIW, I really dislike all the Mc names for girls). Other K/C names that have the same feel you might like:

Carly
Kiera
Chloe

But I do love Ben, great choice there. Good luck!

I like Ben thats a really good choice! As for Kenzie I love it but it sounds like a nickname rather than a formal name. Would you consider using, MC names?

Mckenzie
Mckenley*
McKenna

Other:
Keely
Callie

Good Luck!!!

I do not like just Kenzie, I do like Mackenzie and nn could be Kenzie. I also really like Keagan. But like you I am due in 28 days and we are undecided on a girls name as well.

I agree about the nickname thing as well, we really liked the name but thought that EVERYONE would think her name is MacKenzie and we didn't want her going through life correcting people all the time. We also thought that she wouldn't really appreciate her name when she's in her 30's or 40's.

The hunt continues.... Thanks for your help

I have to be honest that Kenzie comes across as a very trendy and not very substantial name. Lots of little MacKenzies (various spellings) are often called Kenzie, and MacKenzie is one of those very trendy names.

I think Kenzie is fairly popular. I've come across a lot of McKenzies (various spellings) that are nick named Kenzie on iVillage. I don't think I'd pick it if you're looking for something that's not popular.

Also, will you name Ben "Benjamin." I would. Ben sounds like a nick name to me.

just my $.02,

I think Kenzie is really cute! My husband and I are both Scottish and have done a lot of research on Scottish names. I also really like Kinsey and Kinsley. They sound a little bit more like their own name instead of nn for Mackenzie. Good luck and let us know what you decide!!
