What about Micah?
| Thu, 01-12-2006 - 11:42pm |
Hi,
Please help! I really like the name Micah for a boy, but my DH thinks its too feminine. I would never want to name my son something fem or something that he would be teased for. I think Micah is strong and masculine, but I wonder what others will think?
What do y'all think?
Thanks for your help!

Oooh, I LOVE Micah (for a boy). Can't use it myself, because it's what my ex always said he wanted to name one of our children (had we ever had any ... God forbid rofl), so I don't think I could get away from that association.
I don't think it's feminine at all. I've only ever heard of one girl named that (she was actually a grown woman), and just because a few people insist on using a boy name for a girl doesn't make it NOT a boy name, KWIM?
It actually reminds me a lot of the similar (and very-masculine) Michael, with a bit of a twist. A great name in my opinion! I'm sure you can sway your husband on that one ... moms have a way of pulling that sort of thing off (after all, you're the one having the baby, right?). hehe
Good luck!

The couple of Micah's I have known have both been males and it definately is not a feminine name!! Micah means 'who is like god' and is a variation of Michael. It is a good name for a boy and I agree that it sounds strong and masculine.
All the best,
Claire.
It seems unanimous... I also like Micah and do not think it is weak or feminine at all.
All the best with convincing hubby.
Thanks for all of the feedback! It's good to know that I am in the norm and my hubby is off on this one!
Now to convince him....
Thanks again!
