what about this name for a boy?

What are your thoughts on the name Addison for a boy? It is the ONLY name my husband and I agree on and it means "Adam's son". I know this name is starting to be wildly popular for a girl. I certainly don't want people to call him Addie. What if I spell it Adason?

I think Addison is a wonderful BOY'S name! However, I wouldn't use it to name my son right now because of how popular it is for girls. It is unfortunate that it has gone to the girls, but it has & so I'd be wary of giving that name to my son for fear of it being used as a means of teasing when he's in school - for this generation, Addison will clearly be a girly name.
Changing the spelling won't help - it'll sound the same but look rather odd.
Sorry, I wish I could've told you to go ahead & name your son Addison but I really think you'd be setting him up for a lifetime (or maybe just youth) of embarrassment.
How about Adamson?!?!?
AJ, enjoying life with C.
I like Addison for a boy! I think you should use it. I know a boy Addison (about 10 years old) and he's a great all-around kid. I've never heard him called anything except the full name and it absolutely suits him.
I think of the name Addison as for either boys or girls -- like Jordan or Logan.
With the popularity of boys' names for girls, I really don't think kids mind to share their names with children of the opposite gender :)
Go with the name you and your husband love!
I'll admit, I still love Addison for a boy if it's fast-rising popularity on the girls' side doesn't bother you. And be warned, it is rising VERY quickly. Leaps and bounds, KWIM?
I definitely wouldn't change the spelling, however. That simply accomplishes exactly the opposite of what you want, since many of the girls with trendier male names often have them misspelled in an attempt to "feminize" them (surely you've seen a little Maddysen, Avereigh or Ryleah running around?). ;) Adason just seems like yet another attempted feminization, not the other way around.
That said, there are other names that mean "son of Adam" -- and I LOVE your reasoning behind the name, btw!

Addison is a wonderful BOYS name and I think it is absolutly perfect because your DH's name is Adam. Go for it!!

I think it's wonderful that you're considering Addison for your own little "Adam's son." Stick with the most traditional spelling, rather than complicating things with an alternate.
If you use Addison, (and there's no reason why you shouldn't) make your peace with the fact that he will know girl Addisons. In fact, he's going to know multiple girl Addisons. "Wildly popular" just skims the surface of what's happening with Addison on the girls' side of the popularity list. In '06, there were over 7500 female Addisons compared to only 438 male Addisons. Thanks to Madison and Grey's Anatomy, Addison climbed 79 spaces in a single year to enter the girls' top 30, and she shows no sign of slowing down. Chances are, it has a future in the girls' top 10.
None of this means you couldn't, or shouldn't, use Addison for a boy, especially in your case where the name is so meaningful. It's just something you should be completely aware of and okay with.
Good luck!
