Girls: Iris Rebecca - I like Iris because I feel like the name is unique without being weird. Also, this name has stayed around 360-500 on the SSA chart for about the past 15yrs. I think that Iris will be adorable on a little girl, but appropriate for a woman. Rebecca honors my sister.
Elizabeth Brooke/Jamie Elizabeth - Elizabeth honors my mother. However, I am always torn on what nn to use. I like Libby, but I can't picture a Libby all grown-up - Eliza isn't my style...Ellie is too popular...Beth seems too common. Brooke is my name and Jamie is the name of my best friend since I was 9.
Then the list goes on: Felicity, Nora, Isla, Maeve...
Boys: Weston James, nn West - I heard the name Weston a few years ago and I thought that West was an awesome nn. James honors my father.
Eli Dawson - I am not sure that Eli can stand alone and I don't care for Elijah, Elias, or Elliot - so I have a problem. Dawson is a family surname.
Of course these lists are ever-changing, but here's the current situation:
Boys: Joseph David- DH's dad is Joe David, so this name honors him; plus, DH is David. Edward Hugh or Harrison- my dad is Edward and we wanted to stick w/ fam names if we are going to do any at all; Hugh Harrison is my maternal grandpa and great-grandpa's first and middle names. Harrison or Hugh Edward- same as above- not sure which to use as fn/mn and what to call him!
Girls: Tessa Christine- after my mom Teresa and paternal great-grandma Christine Helena Jane- Helena has no fam connection, but I love it so much, esp. w/ nn Lena. Jane is after DH's aunt who died several years ago. Bridget Elizabeth- Bridget also has no fam connection:( Elizabeth is my name!
It's so tough to figure out the family name situation! But we're working on it...
For a girl, I love "Patricia" b/c it's a family name. But nn is a problem b/c we have a Pat in the close family already and don't want to use that, and there are already several Tricia's/Trisha's in our lives - - people have suggested "Tri" (pronounced "Tree") and "Trixie," but neither works for both of us. Any thoughts?
For a boy, Alexander is great (classic), or Evan. I like Aidan, too, but it may be too popular now.
I have a DD Claire Elise, so for a girl I am thinking (with no input from DH pre-pg):
Girl: Anna Phoebe (My current fave - Love Anna I think it is classic and cute.I also like that it has a cute nickname Anna Banana it goes with what Dh calls my DD -- Claire Bear. Phoebe also has the same meaning as my DD's name it means "light".)
Ellen Sophie (I used to love Eleanor but now I feel ike it's too "heavy" for a little girl, plus DH doesn't like the nn Nora but he doesn't mind Ellie. I love that the meaning is basically the same as Claire it means "Shining light". I also like Ella Sophie but I teach Kinder and this year I have twins in my class and their names are Ella and Sophie so that is TOO WIERD.I like Sophie because it is a French mn like my DDs and it means wisdom.)
Boys: William Frederick (DH is Frederick, he likes William, would go by Will Just love how classic and sweet it sounds) Samuel Frederick (LOVE the name Sam! DH wanted to name DD Samantha just for the nn Sam he actually doesn't like the full name Samantha) Other possible middle name for a boy: Charles/Carlos (DH's dad and grandfather)
My all-time favourite boy's name was vetoed a long time ago it was Benjamin but my DH doesn't like the initials BJ and thinks he would be teased!
Gwyneth -- this would be my top choice (at the moment) if we were to have another girl. I love it with the other girls' names, and I think it's a nice mix of old-fashioned and spunky/not-too-common to kind of tie the mix of names together. I also think the nn Gwen is very sweet, and not too similar to any of the girls' names/nns (a problem with some names ... for example, I couldn't have an Ada or Isla with Aila, KWIM? LOL). Most importantly, my generally-picky dh would probably agree to this rather easily, since his Aunt Gwen (not Gwyneth) is one of his favorites. ;)
Eleanor/Nora(h) -- Since Kaitlyn and Devanie's names aren't quite as traditional or old-fashioned as Abigail's, I might lean toward something similarly old-fashioned if we were to add another girl to the mix. ;) I also LOVE Nora(h), either as a nn for Eleanor or on its own, and already know dh likes this one as well.
Talulla -- a guilty pleasure, although I know it's not everyone's cup of tea. I like how spunky and "quirky" it is, and really love that it reminds me of my mom (my dad's always called her Lulu/Lula LOL).
Teagan -- I've always liked this quite a bit, but it might be too similar to Kaitlyn for me to use as a fn (two syllables ending in N). But it's not like I need to figure that out anytime soon (if ever LOL), so it stays.
Cecilia/Cecily -- Just one I've always liked and know dh likes as well (I think he prefers Cecily, but I never know with him LOL).
I also love Alanna(h) and Nolanna, but fear they'd be too similar to Abigail/Aila, Grainne and Niamh, but doubt dh would agree to them as fns, and Charlotte.
Boys:
Finnian/Findlay -- I really love this, and think Finn would be great with the girls. ;) Also, Kaitlyn's been reading "Finn McCool" for kids (forget what they really call the books ) and loves it, so she'd think this was a great choice. ;)
Ewan -- her other favorite. She told me the other day she wanted us to have a baby boy and that she was naming him Ewan (not a request LOL). It's also a personal favorite of mine.
Oliver -- again, I think a more traditional/old-fashioned name would tie in Abigail, and I love Oliver. Not sure if Ollie would be too close to Aila for me, however.
Henry -- Basically the same reasons listed above. I know it's getting more popular, but I've always had a soft spot for it and love all the nn options (including Hugh, which isn't a common or traditional nn at all so that might help with the popularity).
Nolan -- love this, and I think it works great with the girls' names. My only concern would be the -lyn/lan endings of Kaitlyn and Nolan. Perhaps too similar for me.
Also in my top ten: Lachlan, Elliott, Everett, Rohan/Riordan, Logan (yep, I cheat and combine similar names LOL)
For Patricia, my first thought was Paci/Pacy. You could also use Tia, Trici (tree-see, some other spelling perhaps, but I went with what's in the name itself), Tica, Rica (both long "ee" sounds), Pari or even Polly. ;) Just some ideas.

Thanks belle_petite for the siggy!
Boys:
Matthew - Classic, strong, masculine
Christopher/Christian - same as above!
Girls:
Marissa/Alyssa - Feminine
Current favorites that DH and I agree on...
BOYS:
John Paul, nn Jack (John was my g'pa; Paul/Pauline are DH's g'parents, my dad's mn is Paul)
Gregory Charles, nn Greg (after our dads)
GIRLS:
Elizabeth Alice, nn Tess (after 3 of our grandmothers)
Eleanor Elizabeth/Frances/Alice, nn Nora (mn after one of the grandmothers)
Other names that I like, but DH doesn't...
Amelia, nn Mia
Elizabeth, nn Eliza (or just Eliza)
Eve, nn Evie
Miriam
Melinda
Miranda
Georgia
Garrett
Griffin
Leo
Jared
Erik
-Stephanie,
mom to Megan Joy (nn Meg), Julianna May (nn Annie), and #3 edd 8/30/07
I prefer more classic names that have spunky nn choices, so that is what most of my faves are based on:
Boys
Simon- love this, but no great nn. I would probably end up using "Sye"
Charles nn Charlie or Chaz
Alexander nn Anders
Girls
Tabitha nn Tabby
Adeline nn Addie (family name- huge plus for me)
Nora
Amelia nn Mia
-Nikki

You could always do Tia for Patricia. Also, since "Alex" names are so popular these days you could always do the uncommon nn Xander.
Brooke
