I say go for it if you like the name I think it's cute and it's your child and your choice in the long run. Pick what you like and use that name that's how I feel. I have a niece who spells all of her kids names different then you would think they should be spelled like her youngest (DS) his name is Adryant and her oldest (DD) is Tailor but that is how she wanted them spelled.

Hi, Julia ... just couldn't resist asking about your niece's kids' names. I'm not much for unisex names (my sister says when they have a girl she will be a Taylor as well). I do think the Tailor spelling seems more feminine though, so I think that's a good change. ;)

Have to ask though ... what name is Adryant supposed to be a variation of? I can't help but read it exactly as it's written A dry ant. Not sure how it's supposed to be pronounced, but it does bring to mind an interesting picture (tiny little ant with yellow rubber boots and a red umbrella, to be exact ... maybe I'm just tired? lol). I'm sure she must know ... I mean, she HAS to ... but is she aware it says A dry ant? lol Not being mean, just never saw this before.

Just curious!

It looks like a boy's name that is mispelled. Trista is a lovely option but putting a "Y" instead of an "I" still makes it look mispelled.

Good luck!

you people kill me!!!! It must not be mispelled when the baby books listed the same spelling with a "y" but everyone is entitled to their own opinions!

Hi thanks for your comments about Tailor's name as for Adryant it is versions of both Adrain(b) and Adriane(g) and when we are playing with him we call him (a dry ant) and he laughs about it. As for how to tell you to say it I guess you would say it like this (A-dri-ant) not sure.

The best baby name book from 1999.. It has Tristen as a varation of Tristan as a girl name and the other spellings and one is Trystan but I just was going to change the "a" to an i.

I can find the word "ain't" in a dictionary but that doesn't mean it's proper English.

You asked for opinions and you got them. You are free to name your baby what ever name you choose. What you have to remember though is that, wrong or right, people are judged on their names. There are numerous studies on that, many of which have been cited on this board through the years that I've been posting here. My bet is that most people will see the name and think something like, "That's a boy's name spelled wrong." I know a lot of people who when they see a girl with a traditional boy's name think, "I bet they were disappointed she was a girl so they gave her a boy's name." As I said, that might be totally wrong, but that is what some people do think. Before you choose a name for your baby you should have all of the information. From your post you've made up your mind already and that is great - just rememeber you were the one who asked for opinions.
