My husband and I have always loved the name Raine for a girl but when I found out I was pregnant we never mentioned it to each other. I liked Maya and Abigail but once I found out I was having a girl those names just weren't quite right. After the ultrasound my husband suggested the name Raine. I said I like the name Maya and those two names seem to fit so well together. I changed the spelling of Raine to Rayne because I just like it better. But is the name too weird? I'm just not sure about it. It's kind of like a hippie name and my brother even said that when we told him we were thinking about that name. haha!

What do you all think?

I personally like Rayna or Raina better than Rayne or Raine - but Rayna wouldn't work too well with Maya

I like either Raine or Rayne better than Rhaine.

I love the name Raine. But I like the sound of Maya Raine better.

I actually don't mind the Y in Rayne. I don't think it makes it look masculine. Rhaine makes no sense to me at all, however, and I do think it would be confused with Rhiann.

Maya Raine has a slightly better flow to me, but I don't mind it the other way at all.

Since both names can be spelled with either a Y or an I, my only suggestion would be to spell one with an I and the other with a Y, so they're not too matchy: Rayne Maia, Raine Maya, Maya Raine, or Maia Rayne. (Maya Raine is my favorite.)

Good luck! It's great that you and your husband found a name you agree on so quickly -- I think that's a good sign that it's the right choice for you.
