Ok. I've been racking my brain trying to name #3....a boys name was no problem, I decided on Aidan a long time ago. But a girls name is driving me crazy. There just aren't many names out there that I like. I have 2 DD's already, Ashley and Abigail (Abby). And coming up with a 3rd name is soooo hard! Anyway, the only name I really really like is Emma. But it's sooo popular right now. What do you guys think? I know Ashley and Abby aren't unpopular by any means, but Emma is REALLY popular. Any opinions or suggestions welcome.

Ashley, Abigail and Aidan

Ashley, Abigail and Emma

TIA!

I like Emma and don't think it would be any more popular than Ashley or Abby. In our area, Emma is not very common, but I do hear it a lot on message boards/television etc. On the other hand, Ashley and Abby are super popular here (my DD is Ashley :).

I think Emma sounds great with your other 2 DDs. How about using a middle name like Kate or Jo - that you could use with Emma if it is too popular in your area. Emma Kate or Emma Jo or something similar would distinguish her from the others - if the popularity bothered you.

Other suggestions similar in style, but not as popular: Eva, Ava, Ella, Anna or Gemma. Good luck.

Well, I think Ashley, Abby, and Emma sound fine together. I personally would not be deterred by popularity. You could forego using a name you really like because you think it's too popular, only to choose another, less desirable alternative and find out that the alternative name is very popular (or will become popular soon after). As long as there are not a ton of Emmas in your immediate circle of friends and family, I wouldn't give it much thought.

I do prefer Emily to Emma, although that does not get you too far re: popularity. Gemma is a great name. Similar sounding names to Emma that could also work are: Jenna or Brenna.

If you want to go with the "A" theme, which I don't think you HAVE to, by any means, I like:

Alexandra/Alexa, Allison, Alyssa, Amanda, Andrea, Avery

Good luck!

I think Emily is about as popular as Emma these days (at least in my area). Both are such pretty, timeless names. I can see why people are so fond of them.

I'm not sure about Emilia, but I really like Emmeline. I've also heard of people considering Emery (or is it Emory?)... Emmy is also a cute nickname (as in Emmy Lou Harris).

Good luck to you!
