What do you think?

Hey there ladies!!
I am due Oct 22, 2006 with our 1st!! I think we have decided on names now if we can only find out what we are having!!!
Using my middle name for the girl and DH's for the boy (a family name for him) our choices are:
Girl - Madison Nicole
Boy - Matthew Robert
I know they seem so plain but I think they sound nice. What do ya think??

Hi,
I think both names are great. Congratulations.
Jai
I love Matthew Robert. Strong, classic name. Can't go wrong with that.
I don't care for Madison. Between Madison/Madisyn and Madelyn/Madeline the Maddie situation is getting out of control. In my opinion, it's too popular and too trendy.
I was worried of the over popular Madison. I personally do not know any with that name but from what I understand it is getting to be the next big thing.
My name is Jennifer and I would hate the baby to be Maddie #5 in her class like I dealt with in school!!!
Hi Jennifer,
I like Madison but since it is becoming so trendy how about these other not so trendy names:
Victoria Nicole
Josiane Nicole
Kendall Nicole
Khira Nicole
Leslie Nicole
Blair Nicole
Simone Nicole

I really like Matthew Robert. I think it's a nice, classic name. Matthew is popular, but not horribly so, and it's a perrenial favorite, so it's not trendy at all.
Madison on the other hand is SO trendy. It's a name that wasn't even a name at all until the movie Splash came out in 1984. In 1985 it debuted as the #624 name for girls. Since then it's jumped up the rankings in leaps and bounds. It's been in the top 10 every year since 1997 and is currently ranked #3. And it's actually much more popular than that, because that is just girls named Madison -- it doesn't take into account all the Madisyns (#454), Madysons (#454), Maddisons (#515), Madisens (#872), etc. When you add all those together, it could easily be the most popular name in the country.
The thing about names that rise this quickly out of obscurity is that soon enough they will drop just as sharply. and suddenly you wind up with a name that is terribly dated. When people hear her name, it will be very easy to guess what decade she was born in (just like the Heathers and Jennifers of the 70s), whereas Matthew could have easily been born anytime in the last century (or earlier).
My advice is that if you really love the sound of Madison, consider using Madeline/Madeleine instead. It's very similar in sound, but it's a classic name that has been around for hundreds of years. It's not as popular as Madison, and it's not trendy at all. It's a name that won't date her to a certain decade and will serve her well at any age.
