I am pregnant with my second child and I am stumped on boy names but I do have a girl name picked out. I am curious on the re-action of others to this name. This name is just unique enough that I have never met another and I want to chose something classic yet not overdone. The name Lana has a beautiful simplicity that really sits well with me. What do you guys think?

BTW, The middle name would be Marie after my mother-in-law.

I love this name, I think it is gorgeous. I have met one in my life, she would be about 18 now, and it was lovely on her. Similar names you could consider, just to keep options open, are Elena, Helena, Alanna, and Lara. But I like Lana a lot, great choice.

Great name! I have only ever known one Lana, and she would be about 32 or 33 now, I think. I knew her in college, and she was fun, smart, petite, and pretty. We were both trumpet players in the college marching band, and she was a confident leader in the group.

My DH actually suggested the name for our first DD, and if he hadn't had a crush on this Lana in college (he was a trumpet player, too), I might have considered it. :-)

I really like it! I have heard it, but I have never met a Lana either... For a boy, I really like Preston, Pierce, Aaron, Trace or Justice. These were all considered when I was pregnant with my daughter lol! Good luck!

I agree that it's simple and just unique enough. Only possible drawback is pronunciation... lahnah or laynah... she might get asked that a lot if you spell it Lana.

I like it a lot. Reminds me of the classic actress Lana Turner.

Thank you all for the wonderful replies! Keep them coming. : ) I have briefly worried about the mispronunciation issue but then again, depending on where a person is from, many names do get mispronounced from time to time. I would pronounce it as in Lana Turner, the 40's actress mentioned earlier. I find it interesting that her real name was Julia, which is my other child's name!
