Ok what does everyone think of the name Gavin? I really really like it but DH is oppossed to it. I was wondering what everyone else thought. It means little hawk, which, without going into a long story, is a special meaning to me. I was also think for middle names, Benjamin, Caleb, Theodore or Nathaniel. What do you think?

I really like Gavin. It's not overly strange, but more interesting than typical boy names. My favorites of your choices are Gavin Benjamin & Gavin Nathaniel. Keep at it! You may be able to change DH's mind:)

I think it's great--masculine, good for a little boy or grown man, recognizable but not overly popular. What's not to like? I think Gavin Nathaniel has the nicest ring to it.

I really like it! Gavin Nathaniel or Gavin Theodore are my favorites out of your choices. I hope DH will warm up to it, cause it's great.

Good Luck!!

It's one of those names that I think is okay on its own, but when I see it in a poll or compare it to other boy names, I wind up loving it.

I guess I have somewhat mixed feelings about it...not necessarily good or bad, just a mixture of thoughts that come to mind w/this name....

Sometimes when I hear this name out loud, I think of an object...a gavel.

It also reminds me of the lead singer of Bush, Gavin Rossdale.

But like I said, there are other times that I really, really like the name. I might be able to make a better judgement if I knew what mn's you were considering.

Well, best of luck to you!

I really like the name Gavin. It's especially nice with Nathaniel or Theodore, imo. (Although I actually like all of your choices!) I also like it with Patrick.

Another name I love that is similar is Garrett. I just thought I'd throw that out there, just in case your dh likes it.

But Gavin is a winner...

Good luck!

Really like Gavin too! Gavin Benjamin has a nice ring to my ear, though all of your proposed mn sound nice.

I hope Gavin will grow on your spouse :)

I love the name Gavin. I am due in November and Gavin is on our top two list. It would be Gavin James for us. I say go for it, its my number one choice but DH likes Keegan. Hope it helps! Good luck

I personally love the name Gavin. I have been hearing it a lot more lately, and even though it's becoming more common (I don't think it'll ever be "popular" or "over used") I still love it. Gavin Nathaniel and Gavin Theodore are lovely names. I also like Gavin Christopher, Gavin Jameson, Gavin Elias, Gavin Elliot, Gavin Matteo, Gavin Matheson and Gavin Parker.

good luck!

I have a cousin-in-law with a baby named Gavin. I never really cared for it until he was born, and it's growing on me. Gavin is only 1week younger than my Nicholas, so I'll probably be seeing a lot of him!

In any case, I like Gavin Nathaniel, although the N in Gavin might get lost. I don't really care for Gavin with any of the other MNs.

Good Luck! :)

I think Gavin Nathaniel is a strong name. It flows well. Is Gavin the only name you had in mind?
