My DH and I both like the name Cash, but have gotten a lukewarm response from Family. Is this too trendy for a future CEO or Artist? We are fairly conservative.

The middles names will be John, Robert or Cory....Adams.

It is okay as a nn for Charles, but I don't like it as a stand alone name. sorry.

Well, it's NMS, but honestly, I don't think it's bad. It's just not in line with the kinds of names that I personally prefer, that's all. I don't think that the MNs that you are considering match up very well with Cash, though. They just lack flow it seems. I think I would like Cash much better as a MN. Especially since you say that you are fairly conservative. You could still call him Cash, but give him a more traditional FN. These are just some ideas to toss around....

I like the idea of giving the child a more traditional/conservative FN and using Cash as a MN and/or NN. I think Cash is a cute NN for a little boy and a very masculine, cool-sounding NN for an adult man. Definitely different, but not "made up" sounding (a GIGANTIC plus in my book)!

If it weren't for the late Johnny Cash, I would vote for either John Cash or Jonathan Cash NN Cash...

Robert Cash would work too. Or pretty much anything with Cash as MN. Not Corey though - that is just too singsongy with the double C's/K sounds.

I actually like the idea of using Cash as a first name, but I totally understand about wanting a slightly more conservative and traditional first name. My husband is pretty conservative whereas I am more of a free spirit. But when naming children, I prefer traditional sounding first names (our DDs are named Kathryn and Natalie) and slightly "offbeat" middle names (their MNs are Liesl and Rowan, for example).

I like the idea of using it as a middle name.... Let's see what DH says! Cross your fingers!

All I think of is Johnny Cash.

It seems a little too "Las Vegas" for me.

I think of "cold hard 'cash'", and Johnny Cash, and casinos, gambling, gunslingers, gigolos, and mobsters. I'm really sorry, I just don't see this working as a given first name. As a nn, it's GREAT! but not a given name. I think it's too...presumptuous in a way, too. And...I don't know it just sounds like the name of someone that would be a little pompous. But as a nn it's great.

Best of luck to you!

I know a Cash but he spells it Kasz (I believe he's Polish). He is anything but the stereotypes you would normally associate Cash with, and since I've known him a long time, I don't see his name that way.

My advice: if you and your DH can agree on a name, who cares what anyone else thinks? My DH and I can't agree on any girl names and it's so frustrating! I say go with Cash if you both like it. :)
