What do you think of Claire...

For a little girl. I've met quite a few adorable Claires in recent years but just never thought of it for our baby. However this is the name Dh has "decided" on if its a girl.lol Oh really???haha

I have no idea where he heard it but all of a sudden he loves it. Its growing on me but I'm not sure I love it yet. It meets my criteria...its simple, classic, not "girly" and fits with our last name which is french in origin and I think fits well with the other kids names.

I think whats holding me back is I just KNOW my family will hate it. We have some family acquaitances who are men named Clare and it'll take a while for them to get past that I know them and they're very vocal.

Claire is lovely! I wouldn't worry about the guys you know, especially since it's not the same spelling. I've seen Clare for guys but never Claire. If you decide on it I wouldn't tell your family, hopefully they won't be so rude once they've met your baby!

My dad wanted me to be named Claire when my mom was pregnant... I didn't find this out until about a year ago and I was upset that he didn't try to convince her even more! I like it a lot and think I would've made a good Claire... lol

I love it! Sweet, simple, elegant, classic...it's hard to go wrong with this name. It's pretty popular as a middle name, and I seem to know quite a few little girls with the middle name Claire who use it as a double name (Emma Claire, Hannah Claire, etc). But I don't know nearly as many who have Claire as a first name. I think it's a great choice.

Yes that makes sense. Good idea - I don't HAVE to tell family in advance. Like you said they won't care once they see that precious baby! Thanks everyone. I really feel good about it now..its wierd how it can grow on you once you "try" it on for a while kwim? Watch now we'll have a boy instead or dh will change his mind.haha

I'm thinking either Jacqueline as a m/n (after my Grandmother) or Marisa which I think is pretty but its also sort of a combination of my mom and my my sister's names: Mary and Lisa. I like middle names that have a family connection i.e. my dd has my middle name, ds has his father's etc. but you can get into family politics that way as I'm sure you all know.lol

I love the name Claire and wanted to use that name but it does not go with the middle name we have picked out. It is a beautiful classic name.
