What do you think of this for a girl?

I'm beginning to think this little girl is never going to get a "real name" and "Baby Sister" is what we're going to put on the birth certificate! My DH and I saw the name Ellery a few months ago, and both commented that we liked it. We would probably call her Ellie. We're now 6 weeks away from the due date, and haven't really discussed names much since. So, I'm bringing up this name again and wanted to get your opinions. What do you all think of Ellery? No mn yet, although I'm considering Ellery Jo because my middle name (as well as my mom's) is Jo. Honest opinions please....

Thanks!

I like Ellery a lot. My only concern is that she'd be part of the HUGE contingent of Ellies out there right now. It's definitely one of the biggest trends going on right now. (Because Ellie is a nickname for so many names -- Ellen, Elaine, Elena, Eleanor, Elliot, Ellison, Gabrielle, Isabelle, etc)

I like Ellery very much. I would call her Ellery and not Ellie. There are a million and one little girls called Ellie these days. Ellery is lovely.

I really like that name! I know a 7 year old named Ellory and it fits her so well. I think I may like the "o" spelling better, but it could be because my sister is Mallory. Now that I look at it again I see Allergy. Could just be me.
Oh! I like "Jo" with it!

I think it's very pretty. I think there's a Mom on this board with a daughter named Eleri, and I always think "what a nice name" when I see her post.

I like Ellery and considered it (and a million other names) for my new baby girl-I didn't go with it tho because I couldn't stop saying it with a British accent KWIM? lol :) it sounds very British to me and there's nothing wrong with that at all I just changed my mind

will you be hyphenating Ellery Jo?

I say if you love it it doesn't matter what others think so go with it!

I think it is very cute. I would probably still call her Ellery instead of Ellie, but that
is just my preference. There are soooo many Ellie's out there.

I think Ellery is a great name!! I have to agree with the PP's though that there are a TON of Ellie's out there now. We have an Eliana, and we call her Ellie at home, but have started calling her Eliana when we are out because there are just too many Ellie's. There is one in our Gymboree class and her real name is Eli.

So, yeah, I love Ellery, but be prepared to call her Ellery if you run into too many Ellie's. Unless you want to chance her being Ellie A.

I think it is a beautiful name. I have always loved Ellie but can't use it. Ellery Jo is beautiful.
