What do you think of this name?

My husband hates it.
Geralyn.
My father's name was "Gerald" and he passed away a few years ago, never to meet any of his grandkids. I miss him a lot. My middle name was "Lynn" before I got married and made my maiden name my middle name.
Anyway, the name has a lot of meaning, but what do you think of it?
And what do you think of the name Gracun? (Pronounced Grey-Sun). It has no meaning, but I think it's pretty.
Thanks!

My dad's name is also Gerald, and personally, I plan to honour him with a namesake (well, as a middle name) only if I ever have a son. However, my dad is still living, so I don't feel any pressure and can wait to see if a grandson for him ever comes along. I respect what the name means to you, even though Geralyn isn't my style. I do think it's much better than Geralda (my dad's aunt after whom he was named), and, though I personally think Geraldine has a certain charm, it's definitely not of this time. So, if you want a feminine form of Gerald, I'd say Geralyn or Gerianne are definitely the best choices. If it were up to me, though, I'd make it the middle name.
As for Gracun, spelled that way the C should make a hard K sound rather than a soft S sound, so when I see it I see GRACK-unn. Sorry, but that's just what the letter C usually does before a U in English, so I'd try a different spelling. The name, the way you want it prounounced, appears as Grayson or Greyson for boys and usually as Gracen, Graycen, Gracyn, etc., for girls. It's very, very trendy for both boys and girls, way too trendy for my taste, but it does sound pretty. The male version does have a meaning, 'son of the grey-haired man' (might not want to tell your husband that!). The feminine form is to some extent a 'made-up' name, but it could be thought of as a variation of the male Greyson/Grayson (I wouldn't be at all surprised to see girls with those spellings, Madison, Addison and Jaimison being so common), of Grace, or, what I think is most likely, as a shortened form of Grace Anne.
Gracen Geralyn would be a pleasant combination, perhaps your husband could live with Geralyn as the middle name? If not, you might consider honouring your father by using his initials, especially as you already like Gracen which provides the G.

I think Geralyn's nice, and the meaning is special. It's nice when you have a special meaning for a name! But "hate" is a pretty strong word/feeling for your husband to have, so maybe like one other suggested, just have it for a middle? Good luck!
