I'm about three and ahalf months pregnant and thinking of names for the baby. I really like the name Mckhy for boy. Does anyone else like it as much as I do?

I have a nephew named Mekhi and it really suits him. I an not sure about the spelling you chose though. I think that some people may have a difficult time pronouncing it. Either way it is a cute name. Good luck!

Thanks. How old is your nephew? I've never heard anyone with the name before.

Oh, I have to say that's not really my style - mostly because of the spelling. I think everyone would have a really hard time pronouncing it and spelling it, and it will likely be a challenge for your little boy to have to spell it for people his entire life.

I'd prefer McKay or Mickey, depending on which pronunciation you're going for. I think those are both unique enough on their own without having to alter the spelling. I like both, by the way. :)

My sister is due in about 4 weeks and is naming her baby Mekhi (pronounced Ma-Kye). I'm not sure about the spelling she chose either. There's an actor named Mekhi Phifer on ER, and that's where she got the name and spelling. I think I would prefer Makai (Mekhi looks like Meckey to me), and I'm not one to like "Mc" names, so McKai or McKhi wouldn't work for me. Anyway, I think it's a cool name if you can figure out a good spelling. And Khi or Kai make really cute nicknames.

I LOVE the name... only spelt differently. Makai is how I would spell it, but there are many different spellings (Makai, Mekai, Mehki, Mehkai, etc.) Its a great, strong name but your spelling looks bad. You could just go with Kai ("ky") or Malachi or Maverick.

I think this is a great name but I agree with other posts about the spelling. I didn't know what the name was when I first saw it. I think it needs another vowel somehow.
Good luck!

Thanks for your input. I like the spelling Mekhi too. I have a little girl and her name is Mckennah. One of the boys on my sons football team's name is Khy. I thought that maybe the spelling Mckhy would be cool. It sounds like the pronounciation is hard for a lot of people. I'll have to think about it:)

I like the Makai spelling as well - I think the pronunciation is more straightforward with that spelling.

That is funny. My sister is due June 1, and if she has a boy it will also be Makai!
