What do you think? Name dilema...

I like the name Naomi, but my husband's ex-girlfriend's name is Naomi. So we thought of the name Nomi, it's actually Hebrew and means pleasant.

Is it too weird?

Any opinions?

Well, I guess it depends on how long ago and for how long your husband dated his ex and how "attached" they were to one another! I know my DH had a 6+ year GF before me and her name will never appear on a list! But someone he dated for a month 10 years ago... sure, why not I like Naomi better though!

I don't know...Have you considered Nomia instead? Nomi is OK, but my neighbor has a dog named Nomi (as in "NO, pick ME!), so I can't get that out of my head.

It's not weird, but it's a little to nicknamey for my tastes. Unless you and your husband have serious problems with his ex, I don't see why you couldn't choose Naomi and call her Nomi for short.

I think that it would be fine to name your daughter Naomi, unless your husband can't help but associate the name with his ex GF. Just a warning- I knew a girl named Nomi and she was constantly teased about her name. She said that ppl always had difficulty getting it right, and that everyone made the "no, me" association.

I am more used to seeing Nomi and Neemi then Naomi but that is because most I know with those name Finnish and I live next door to Finland.

I like Nomi, it is a sweet name, go for it.

Sorry to say, but I feel it is still to close to the ex girlfriends name and I also get the images of gnomes when I read the name, sorry.

I would never be able to get over the ex association, but that's just me.

Have you considered Nina? We named our 1 year old daughter that and I think it's just beautiful and perfect in every way. :) It was also special because we had two sons, and Nina means 'girl'. Her middle name, Martha, means 'lady'. So we say it's for the girl she is, and the lady she will become.

Lily Francesca is our lil freedom flower. ;-)

Oh my goodness!!! You are SO clever! But your boys may be upset that you didn't get creative until the last 2! Now I'm trying to associate that with names on my list and there's just no way.... well, Scarlett is my first choice right now.... maybe I could do Scarlett Candance (Candy)... my little Red Hot! ha ha... no way, just kidding! That's great though....
