Ok so I am still have an unbelievably hard time with boys names I read list upon list and well I like a lot that all of you have suggested. But none are jumping out at me. A lot of my favorites are taken (by people I know to close to use the same name) but here is a few i am thinking of. What is your opinion.

My last name is Davison

Nathaniel Davison ( my DH comes from a long line of "Davison's" all of which grew up on a family farm. The first man to start the farm was Nathaniel back in 1838. So his great great and his great Grandfather were Nathaniels so we thought it would be pretty cool to use that name again) BUT I if I went with Nathaniel I would want to use a nickname but my DH doesn't like Nathan (not because its a bad name but he associates it with someone he doesnt' like) sooooo he said we should call him Nate. Do you think Nate Davison sounds dumb??? I kind of think its such a short name with a longer last name. I guess I keep thinking of all the names out there to pick from is Nate really the best I can come up with???...

ahhhhhhh I don't know what to do. I keep thinking of "D" names that I like but I can't use them because Davison starts with a D. My other choices would be

Liam

Sam

Andrew

and some others that I either haven't come across yet or have thought enough about.

yikes!! :-)

I think Nathaniel nn Nate is fine, and it has history (which is always nice in a name).

I LOVE the name Nate! I really wish I could use it, but I know that my DH's step-brother and step-sis will be fighting over it themselves (it was their grandfather's name), so I don't want to take that away from them.

It is my favorite boy name!

Good luck!

Well, I adore Nathaniel as a boy's name. I also love Nate, and Nat, and Nathan for boys. But, why do you need a "for short"? Just call him Nathaniel. If it's too long for him to write when he starts learning, let him write Nate and he may be called that at school, but if you don't like it with the family, just keep calling him Nathaniel. I do really love Nate, so I think it's great. I love the family connection too.

I don't like Liam as a name, but as a short for William, I find it acceptable. Same for Sam with Samuel. I've never liked Andrew, and I don't know why. I think Nathaniel's the best, though, especially for its history in your family.

I like Nate Davison a lot. I was also thinking of Ramey (rahmey) Davison for something different.
