Ok so I am still have an unbelievably hard time with boys names I read list upon list and well I like a lot that all of you have suggested. But none are jumping out at me. A lot of my favorites are taken (by people I know to close to use the same name) but here is a few i am thinking of. What is your opinion.

My last name is Davison

Nathaniel Davison ( my DH comes from a long line of "Davison's" all of which grew up on a family farm. The first man to start the farm was Nathaniel back in 1838. So his great great and his great Grandfather were Nathaniels so we thought it would be pretty cool to use that name again) BUT I if I went with Nathaniel I would want to use a nickname but my DH doesn't like Nathan (not because its a bad name but he associates it with someone he doesnt' like) sooooo he said we should call him Nate. Do you think Nate Davison sounds dumb??? I kind of think its such a short name with a longer last name. I guess I keep thinking of all the names out there to pick from is Nate really the best I can come up with???...

ahhhhhhh I don't know what to do. I keep thinking of "D" names that I like but I can't use them because Davison starts with a D. My other choices would be

Liam

Sam

Andrew

and some others that I either haven't come across yet or have thought enough about.

yikes!! :-)

Thanks everyone!! for you responses!

it really helps to have strangers tell you cause you never know if people you know say they like a name they are just saying it to be nice. So Nathaniel is definitely in the top spot with Nate for a nickname. I guess what it comes down to we all have to go with what we love. i just want to make sure that my child doesn't grow up and say to me...why did you name me that dumb name?? lol....

I LOVE Nate (you can see from my signature that I'm biased!). And I think it sounds great with Davison and I love the history behind it. Our Nate is a Nathaniel too, and we preferred the nickname Nate as well. I'm glad we chose to call him Nate, because while Nathaniel

I think Nate is a great name. I don't think it is too short for your last name at all.

I actually know a Nate Davis...so Nate Davison sounds just dandy to me.

Amy

just had to respond to your post cause after I saw you signature I thought how funny! your son's name is Nate and that is what I think I am going with. But your other sons name is Cal. My husband I were also seriously considering the name Callum...and we'd call him Cal for short....lol...think we are on the same wave length..name wise!!

Janet,

LOL! You can't go wrong with Cal, either! Our's is a Calvin, but I originally wanted him to be Callum. DH didn't like the "um" ending (it reminded him of Golum, on Lord of the Rings, ugh!). I still like Callum, but Calvin seems a better fit for us in the long run! Good luck! With Davison, I still think Nate is the best choice!
