What do you think of when you hear the name Ruby? It is my 2nd pick- Madison is the 1st but it happens to be the 2nd most popular name in the US and i'm worried about that. Please give honest input!

My mom's name is Ruby. It's okay. She admits that she never liked her name, however.

I personally love too...However, DH nixed it early on because it rhymes with "booby". :) How mature of him, I know, but sometimes it's nice for stuff like that to be pointed out...It changed my mind, but I know for most people it would not. :)

i thought about it rhythming with boobie too- but kids will just find something else to make fun of if it's not a name. kids made fun of my teeth before braces.

I think Ruby is wonderful! And it may not be so very unusual in years to come. I know two little girls named Ruby. I live in CA.

I had a great aunt Ruby. I would use the name if I didn't have friends who already named their girls that!

Best of luck,

Kira

Whenever I hear the name ruby I always picture a beautifull young lady in a 50's style halter dress with a full skirt. The fabric is crisp heavy cotton and is white with a cherry and blossom pattern on it. She's smiling full so oyu can se all herr teeth adn has red hair thats unruly, thats why it's pulled into a bun, although her bangs are free.
She's holding a bamboo purse and the wind is whipping at her scarf.

It's lovely. This picture has come into my mind now for years whenever i hear the word ar name Ruby.

Ruby is getting to be a very common name over here (UK), there are 4 in my little neices class, so I expect it will soon catch on like the other older type names, Daisy, Alice, Grace etc etc etc Made me laugh about the "booby" rhyming - hadn't even thought of that, but imagine it if she's well endowed in later years - "booby Ruby" how cruel!
