I like the name, who cares what everyone else thinks? If you like it, use it.

Well, your MIL and your parents already named their children, so don't be overly concerned with their opinions. Many grandparents don't know what to think of their grandchildren's names.

If you want the opinion of a stranger, LOL, Mackenna Riley is not my style. All of the McK- names are extremely popular for girls; there were thousands of babies named Mackenna, McKinley, and Mackenzie last year with many different spellings for each. Check out the SSA's stats and you can see just how popular they are. http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/ Both Mackenna and Riley are unisex (a popular trend) and have that "Irish" feel (another popular trend), so the name feels super trendy. Branching out just a little, to Madigan or Kendra, for example, would definitely help your daughter stand out in a crowd.

Both names are very trendy and popular. Since the first name is used more often, I will focus on that. Mackenna is very popular, as well as other similar Mc- names (Mckenzie and Makayla, to name a few). It is trendy, meaning that in a few years (or with this name, more like a few months) it will seem outdated. I would use Kenna instead, if you want a similar option. If you MUST use it, I would use the Makenna spelling, as it is more common (at least from what I see) than Mackenna.

I'm in the same boat with my parents not particularly liking the name I have chosen for our son arriving soon. However, you and DH's opinion is ultimately the only one that counts. You have to repeat this name for the rest of your life. You don't want to say "I wish I would have named you....." 10 yrs. down the line. I personally love the name, had McKenzie on my list for a girl.

I actually like both of those names. The only thing I don't like is that both are really trendy now. But if you like it use it. Its not a horrible name, at all. I personally would spell it Mckenna to make it a little easier.

Good luck!
