What does everyone think of Sydney

I have two boys and I'm 9 months pregnant with a girl. My husband and I were thinking of Sydney for her name. Everyone seems to hate that name, what do you guys think, is it really bad, I thought it was cute but with so may negative opinions I don't know anymore

I like it, it is cute. It has a bit of a trendy feel to it, maybe that is why some ppl don't like it, but it isn't trendy in the way that "Madisyn" and "Ayden" are, KWIM? It's just more of a modern name. I like it, I think it is cute. It's not overly popular... I know 3- two of them are age 11 and one is age 5. It suits them all well. I also just read a book where a Sydney adult was the main character, it was called Homecoming by Barbara Bickmore (amazing book). So if people say they have trouble picturing Sydney on an adult, read the book and it will seem fine.

We have friends who named their dd Sydney because the city meant a lot to them (they both travelled there frequently and it was the first trip they took together, so fond memories). Because I knew the personal meaning behind it, it seemed to fit, but without that connection the name is generally not my style.
FWIW, this isn't the easiest name for a child to pronounce, either. We had a book when we were young with a male character named Sidney (I believe this spelling), and we always thought it was hilarious that they'd use "Sindey/Cindy" for a boy. I swear, even when my mother tried to help us say Sid-ney, it was very difficult to get it to come out that way. LOL Just something to keep in mind.
