What goes with DD named Brett?
| Mon, 10-16-2006 - 11:47am |
I have a DD named Brett Gabriella (named after her Grandfather). I am looking for names to go with it. They don't have to start with a B, but I would prefer they did or at least sounded good with Brett. Here are some we are thinking of, but we're not set on any of them. Any other suggestions? Any favorites we have listed? Please answer honestly.
Girl: Bree, Brynn, Baylee (DH middle name is Lee so we'd go with that spelling)
Boy: Bodie, Bowen, Boden, (all nn Bo), Beckett, Ryder, Mac, Hudson, Hutch, Holden
Thanks!

Thanks for your suggestions! I really appreciate it. I really want a name that would not be weird or made-up. I prefer one easy to spell, too.
Girl names:
Brielle Elizabeth, Brielle Kristine, Brielle Mattea (love mn Elizabeth, but Brielle kinds sounds made up)
Belle Sabrina, Belle Carolyn, Belle Victoria (love it, but I have a niece named Belle)
Baylee Sage, Baylee Corinne, Baylee Michelle (all mn are out b/c of personal connections)
Brooke Elizabeth, Brooke Lee, Brooke Simone (ok)
Ashlee Belle, Ashlee Nicole (cousin named Ashley)
Leora Belle (no thanks)
Ellerie Brooke (kinda sounds made up to me)
Ainslee Paige, Ainslee Renee (okay)
Boy names:
Beau Holden, Beau Harrison, Beau Patrick (Beau one of my favorites, but DH doesn't like spelling)
Bennett Scott, Bennett Ross, Bennett Lee (like it a lot - run it by DH)
Brody Pierce, Brody Elliot, Brody Donovan (like Brody, but would use a family mn)
Brock Daniel, Brock Evertt, Brock Nolan (out b/c of personal connections)
Bryce Thomas, Bryce Harrison, Bryce Donovan (out b/c of personal connections)
Ryder Troy, Ryder Pierce, Ryder Dominic (we would do Ryder Marc after my dad)
WDYT? Does this help? Let me know if you like any or need more combos..
Holden James, Holden Maxwell, Holden Joseph
Definitely helps . . .thanks. No need to put mn. We'd use a family name for sure, but thanks for all the suggestions! Let me know if you think of any other great first names!
Thanks!
Girl: Bree, Brynn, Baylee (DH middle name is Lee so we'd go with that spelling)
Boy: Bodie, Bowen, Boden, (all nn Bo), Beckett, Ryder, Mac, Hudson, Hutch, Holden
hello!! your dds name is very unique-and i like the family connection. i like baylee for a girl or a boy and i like bree for a girl too. i love ryder for a boy and holden is okay too...what about colton, maverick, landon, brody, brad, or just plain beau for a boy? for a girl, what about bianca, bethany or briana? good luck!!

Thanks for the help! I love Beau, but my DH is deadset against that spelling and I don't like just Bo (I think of B-O as in Body Odor). I also like your suggestion of Brody!
Thanks again!
Girl: Bree, Brynn, Baylee (DH middle name is Lee so we'd go with that spelling)

Of the girl names you're considering, I like Brynn the best.
With a dd named Brett, I'd want something equally unique and strong for this baby.
However, another B name doesn't "go with" Brett or even "sound good with it." It sounds bad. I'm sorry to be blunt (I've had this discussion a few times recently -- it's not you ), but while Brett and Holden (love that from your boy choices, btw!) sound incredible together -- both having a similar style/feel while maintaining their own identity -- Brett and Brynn sound matchy and cutesy and actually take away from the uniqueness of Brett a LOT. Instead of having a daughter with a wonderful, uncommon name with a special family link, you have two children with names that sound kind of corny together. Great apart. Not so good for siblings. Make any sense?
That said, I don't think you will have a problem finding the perfect name for this baby, from the looks of your list. Instead of Baylee, what about Ailee, Ainsley, Amelie, Avonlea, Cecily, Coralie, Everley, Hailey or Marley? All of these end in the "lee" sound like Bailey (and of course you can alter the spelling if you feel the need to, but to me Lee/Leigh/-ly/-ley/-lie all say "lee").

Ya know, I think I agree with Kelli that I don't think another "B" or especially "Br" name sounds good with Brett.
Thank you Annette and Kelli for your replies.
Although, I'm a little biased to the "cutesy" matching names. My parents and my aunts and uncles gave us all A names: Amy, Amanda, Alecia, Abbey, Ashley, Andrew, Adam, Alex, Anna, and Amber, and I can't tell you how many times in my life people tell us how cool it is. Everyone knows we are family : ) Two different families have named their two girls after my sister and I (Alecia and Abbey) - so to each his own! I really do thank you for your honesty, though. You each had a few great suggestions, but I definitely want to stay away from anything on the WAY too popular list.
Thanks and keep the suggestions coming!
Jazz - Thanks for your reply! I had to LOL at the mention of the dog's name. I'm not a real big fan of Baylee, but it is my DH's favorite. I once said that it sounds like a dog's name. His reply was that Abbey (my name) is a VERY popular dog's name and he still likes my name!
Thanks again for giving me honest, but very polite comments!
