Okay girls, it's me agian. Still discussing girl names and DH keeps going back to Gracie!!! Last night, the quetion came...What's wrong w/ Gracie? All I could say at the moment was it is sooo popular. His comeback, not really...we don't know any. So, could you help give me a list of other wrongs w/ Gracie??

The other name he said he liked was Rory (I have always said if my daughter is born w/ red hair this would be her name...don't ask me why?) He said it was unique and different. He does know a woman at work that has a grown son named Rory though. Of course, he wants Rory Grace. Which I am okay w/ this b/c Rory is a unisex name which I normally do not like. But Rory sounds girlie to me?

Any other name suggestions are welcomed as well!
Thanks so much!!!

Sorry for the confusion, Nikki. Didn't mean to offend and I didn't mean to suggest that Aurora or Lorelei are horrible names. Different strokes for different folks. If you don't want to have a daughter with the name of half of her class, such as Grace, Emma, Mackenzie, Mikayla, Isabelle, etc, etc, etc people are free to pick out whatever names that they want, including Aurora or Lorelei. My godson's name is K'Andre -- pronounced Key-Andre -- and let me tell you what a pain it is for him to constantly have to spell it correctly or pronounce it for people. Would I have wanted to be a Michelle, Jennifer, Kim, Kelly, etc growing up? Probably not -- but it does get old constantly having to repeat your name, spell it out or pronounce it correctly for people. I just have to ignore it now when people call me TAN-ya instead of Tawn-ya -- I don't even bother to correct most people anymore. Maybe you can't relate because you're name is fairly common and popular; I'm just trying to give the perspective from my view.

We are picking out good, solid names that we feel are timeless but not overly popular. Patrick and Kathleen aren't trendy but they aren't 'unique' either. We have a very common last name, so we know our child won't be the only person in the world with that name, but that's OK. It's better than naming them D'Brickashaw Jackson just so there isn't another one in the world with that name.

Just my opinion and insights.

Oh, no. I wasn't offended in any way! Just wanted to point out that those names aren't so different compared to some names, including the one you mentioned (K'Andre).

Hi! First time poster here!

just wanted to chime in: there are 5 GRACES in my son's playgroup. It has become the new "Jennifer" from our generation! I really think it is getting really overused.

Rory is nice. But like the PP's may be too girly and too much like a nickname.

THe name Gracie doesn't grow with the person. She will not always be a little girl. It just doesn't sound like a name for a young lady or a woman.
