I discussion on my playgroup board got me thinking, do pet names follow the trends?
Let's have your pets name and how old they are (how long ago they were named).

I currently have 3 dogs,
Cosmo (male) 7 years
Addy (female) 5 years
Leia (female) 3 years

I have had twin red-eared slider turtles, named Yoda and Yoshi, 4 years ago; and a blind beta fish, named Tyresius 6 years ago.

We have a 2.5 year old cat, Sheba. Our dog, Phoebe, is a year old. It took us a week or two to name Phoebe- we tried Allie, but she was so energetic and playful that we had to find a name that suited that aspect of her personality. For us, Phoebe fit her perfectly.

I have a 14 week old puppy named Millie-she's a Boxer so I chose a German name (which I wouldn't normally use for kids, not b/c I don't like Germans or anything though LOL!)

I also have two cats, Magic (black cat, highly original name :P) and Lily (she's white and grey, we call her Tiger Lily sometimes) they are both about 8 months old.

A cat named Katie (she's 13).

A dog named Wolf (he's an ex-racing greyhound whose racing name was GW Icewolf ... we adopted him 4.5 yrs ago & just call him Wolf).

We had a cat named Crystal for a short while about 15 yrs ago. We also had a cat named Cassie who we named about 15 yrs ago.

We have a two-year-old rat terrier named Winston. He was named after the main character in Orwell's 1984. I wanted a literary name and 1984 is one of my all-time favorite novels. We're currently on the lookout to rescue a Yorkie puppy who we'll name Delilah, after the song Hey There Delilah by the Plain White Ts. While Jamie and I were dating long distance, this as "our song" and she used to sing it to me most nights before we went to sleep.

I think our pet naming style is similar to our baby naming style: we prefer recognizeable names that are not overly-popular names and have great personal meaning to us.

We have a black lab named Holly she was a Christmas gift for our kids that's where the Holly came from. Her AKC name is Mary Christmas Holly Bells or something along those lines I can never remember...lol Before we moved to NC our farm cats were Pickles, Marie(after the aristicat), Minnie(after the mouse), Reptar(after the rugrats) and Sammy.

As a child my cat was french fries and my dog was Savannah(after Savannah Smiles) and in college I had a cat named Mezcal(gee wonder what i did a lot in college...lol)

Fun question!

We have a 9 year old cat called Foxfire Spice, "Spice". He's a laid back sweethart gold persian prince.

We have a 1 year old cat called Amelia Skye, "Mia".

I'd say that Mia probably follows some trends, huh? LOL. We actually got out the baby name book to name her too. Amelia was the one that we all agreed on, but it was too big for her since she was only about 8 weeks at the time. I suggested Mia, & it fits her to a t! She's a spunky, petite, sweet as pie, siamese tabby mix.

We used to have a male siberian husky called Schuylar. We got him '92. I'd say that was a bit ahead of the trends.

Also, my parents have a 15 year old cat called Hayley whom I named. She was ahead of the trends too!

My dogs are Amanda (Mandy) and Chloe. We didn't name them though. The shelter named Amanda and my friend who first owned Chloe named her. Chloe will be 3 in May and we estimate Mandy's age at about 5 come June.
