I discussion on my playgroup board got me thinking, do pet names follow the trends?
Let's have your pets name and how old they are (how long ago they were named).

I currently have 3 dogs,
Cosmo (male) 7 years
Addy (female) 5 years
Leia (female) 3 years

I have had twin red-eared slider turtles, named Yoda and Yoshi, 4 years ago; and a blind beta fish, named Tyresius 6 years ago.

We had a series of zebra finches from about 10 years ago to 5 years ago, and they were:
Piper(b), Pebbles(g), Poppy, Pepsi(b), Posy, Pip, Pepper(g)... I think that was all of them. We started with Piper (had a very distinctive call) and then named Pebbles (was sort of a mottled soft light grey), and went from there. My mom kept threatening Ponty--from J. Pierpont Finch (character from a musical) lol.

My dog's name is Milo, which is a VERY trendy name! I wince when I hear of babies named that because I think of my goofy dog!

My other dog who lives with my parents now, also has a pretty trendy-sounding name. Her name is Seren, short for Serendipity. I has a similar feel to other "noun names" like Sierra, Sienna, etc. I've never heard her name used for people though!

Aww ... I love Milo (although it honors both grandparents in my case, so maybe I'm sentimental LOL). Still, I don't think of it as trendy at all. It's barely in the top 1000. ;)

Oddly enough, I've also had Seren on some mn lists a while back. It's a stand-alone Welsh name meaning "star."

I have 3 cats, and my sister has one. We all live together.

Lola Daphne is 3 years and 10 months old (all white).
Kiera Matilda is 2 years and 7 months old (all black).
Maxie Jane Alexis is 1 year and 11 months old (grey/brown tabby).
Fifi Hyacinth is 11 months old. This is my sister's cat (calico).

They are all about 1 year apart, and I have no idea if they follow any trends.

I had to comment on your beagle named Toby - we had one too! She was a beagle-mix and we got her about 12 years ago right before Christmas. She got her name because her favorite first toy was shaped like a foot :) She just passed away about 4 months ago. :(

I have a rabbit named Dusty who turns 12 this August. I was 11 when I named him so that was the best that I could do. LOL. I love him though.

I have a cat named Fifi Hyacinth who turns 1 this May.

I also had a dog named Skipper. He passed away September 06 at the age of 17.

Oh! I forgot to mention my other pets.

While living at home with my parents we also had a white cat named Boxey. He was very spunky! We got him about 15 years ago I think.

After he died, we named his "replacement" BJ (nn for Boxey Junior, even though they acted and looked nothing alike!) He was a oragne tiger with a split personality -loving you one minute and scratching the heck out of you the next! I think he's about 14 now.

When I got married, my DH gave me a multi-colored long-haired beauty HE named Princess - and that's what she's always thought was her mission in life. It suits her perfectly. She's almost 7 years.

We adopted a cat from my MIL that she named Abbie. She's 5 years old.
DH's family has lots of rescues so they gave us one :)
They also have white shih tzu named Boomer (10 years?) a black lab named Coby (maybe 5)
Cats named George (16 years?), Ellie (1 or 2 years) and I think they have one more younger cat named another trendy-girl name that I can't remember right now.

The last post reminded me ... I forgot to include my frog, Laszlo!

I "rescued" him from school when we did the tadpole project in science class (does everyone do that? Very cool. ). No one else wanted him because only his back legs fully developed, and whichever froggies were left at the end of the year were threatened to be flushed. Funny thing is, he outlived every other frog that went home with everyone else ... even my sister's, who was apparently quite depressed and jumped down the drain. ;) Laszlo, on the other hand, was the happiest little frog I've ever known.

I just liked the name, btw. And I definitely doubt it'd be considered trendy.
