I think we finally came up with a name for our daughter, Brooke Ashley. Our last name starts with a M and is pronounced My-ra. The only problem is her intials will be BAM

I am open to changing the middle name, or what does everyone think of this?

I wouldn't worry about the initials, since they don't spell out anything undesirable (like MOO or ICK or something). Most people don't run around monogramming everything these days, so it probably won't come up much at all.

I think it's more important to go with the name you love.

It's a nice name. I wouldn't worry about what the initials spell, how often does anyone really use their middle name? My initals spelt out MAC before I was married and I don't think anyone every commented on it. No Mac Truck jokes or anything like that!

Good luck with your new baby.

Brooke Ashley is real pretty, imo. I don't think the initial thing is a real big deal.

I think if you both really enjoy her name that the initials shouldn't be of concern! She'll grow up and get married some day anyway! =)

I am careful about initials that "spell" something. Sometimes, I think it can work....but I would be hesitant to use names whose initials spell "BAM", especially for a girl. I mean, it's really not that bad, but I can't help but think of "wham, bam, thank you, ma'am". I agree w/the other poster that said it's not like the initials spell "ICK", but still, I would probably strongly suggest changing the middle name so that the initials don't spell anything.
I think I've mentioned on the board a couple of times that my initials spell "VAC", and I don't like it. It reminds me of a vacuum cleaner. Now, it my parents would have thought JUST a little more, and used a mn that starts w/ the letter "i", my initials would spell VIC, which would be really cute b/c my name is Victoria.

Just a thought! Best wishes to you!

I actually always thought it was cool when peoples initials spelt something .. as long as it wasnt bad. Trust me .. ive seen the initils A.S.S and P.M.S ... so it could be worse! Iwould keep them name, its very pretty, and the initials are fine!

I think Brooke is really pretty. It's not BAM that worries me--it's BM. Am I the only one here whose grandmother talked about BMs (bowel movements)? I hope I haven't ruined the name for you. Sorry! On the other hand, Brooke Shields's initials are BS, and it hasn't hurt her any.

I also thought of the BM thing right away. My last name is an "M" name and my DH's name is Brandon. It's always bothered me that his initials are BM. Other people bring it up at times, too. We're not even considering any "B" names at all at this point. Sorry... but I guess most people would disagree with me and say it's fine, so go with whatever you feel is best. It's your baby!
