Will my dd be upset?

Hi everyone,

I have two dd's and am pg with a little boy. Here is my dilemma. My first dd is named after my mom. Her mn is my mom's name. I am the type of person who only names after someone whom I feel is extremely special, someone I truly want to honor. My mom was that type of person, she was my hero. I know many people will name after grandparents, uncles, etc., but I generally don't do that. Anyway, when my second dd was born, we did not name her after any family member since there was noone we felt that strongly about, we just chose a name we loved. Now I am pg with a boy, which we plan to name Patrick as a mn, which is my dh's name. Now, as time goes by, do you think my second dd will be upset since her name is not after anyone like her siblings? My sister was named after my mom and my name doesn't have any special meaning. It never once bothered me. Just curious how others feel on this.

I don't think it would be a problem.

My middle son isn't named after a family member and my other two are. He is 12 and every once in awhile he says something about it. We are TTC #4 and he thinks that this ones middle names should be "his" name so that they will all have something in common. I tell him that someday he can give his son his name as a middle name. I really can't tell if he is kidding about this or not but I do wish that I would have considered it more when naming him.

not at all. You chose a special name for her.. a unique one that no one in your family has... that's just as sweet as naming her after someone. Put a positive spin on it and she will not care.

There may be a bit of jelousy, depending on age. Since you said you only use peoples name that you honor; she may feel like she was not special enough to get an honorable name. This is what I think. But if she is old enough to understand what you are trying to say; I would get her feelings on this. Good luck!!
