Hello,
Does anyone have a baby named Winston or know someone who does. My husband and I disagree about it and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this old fashioned name.

Sorry, don't know anyone with this name. I have to admit, its not one of my favourites. Maybe it'd be nice if you came up with a nice nn, but Winston just doesn't do it for me.

Winston makes me think of a dog. Sorry. I have known about 3 or 4 dogs with this name.

I usually like old fashioned names but I don't like Winston for two reasons. The first (and this will show how old I am) is that I can't help hearing, "Winston tastes good like a cigarette should" in my head. The second is that I'd worry people would call him "Winnie." Yes, I know that you think you can prevent people from doing that by insisting that he be called by his proper name. But as the mother of a Benjamin (NN Ben) I can't begin to tell you how many of his friends, and even his older sisters, call him "Benny" over my protests.
