a pattern with our boys names :Collin and Gavin Now IF we have another boy I like Owen (altho it is not "in" ending) Would this seem odd? If so, any other boy names ending in "in"
Also, if we ever had a girl her name would be Brooke LiliAnn But now : Collin, Gavin and Brooke seem to make the girl name stick out Would she feel slighted?? There is a new name on my mine these days for a girl :Arden
So , Collin, Gavin and Arden vs Collin, Gavin and Brooke
What do you think???????????????

With the girls names I like Arden in theory, but think it is not very feminine sounding and really sounds too much like the word 'harden' for me to fully embrace it. It think Brooke is a much better choice. It doesn't stick out with the similar sounding Collin and Gavin at all, IMO.
Some names that do have that sound I like are
Catrin
Maren
Bronwyn

I think Collin , Gavin & Owen would be nice together:

Now for a girl...
I think because this would be your first girl, Brooke is ok to use.
When we were naming our 3rd DD, I didn't want a 1-2 syl. name b/c I didn't want her feelings hurt by her sisters longer names. We kept them the same meter.

Lauren
Vivian
Caitlin/Kaitlin

I think I like Arwen better than Arden. Sounds more feminine.

I would intentially break the pattern.
Which means rethink Owen -- same ending sound as Collin and Gavin.

I think Owen is perfect with Collin and Gavin and none of the 'in names

Happiness is a conscious choice, not an automatic response. --
What I think is that you are OVER-thinking. go with what you like and quit worrying about whether a kid will feel slighted because his/her name is different from the siblings.
any of the en/in/on/an enders sound the same at the end, so I don't see Owen as a bit different in style from Collin and Gavin.
and as for the girl, to me, that's really not important, to stay with the boys name style for a girl. go with what you LIKE, so you daughter will have a name you really LIKE
Thank you for your input. I like your suggestion :Griffin I told DH about the name Arden and he hates it! He wants us to go w/ the girl name we have loved for years
Brooke LiliAnn
Hey it fun to play though!
