Would Brevin sound good as girl name??
| Fri, 06-22-2007 - 10:58am |
I am on my third girl and had since my first one had Brevin picked out for a boys name but now that I'm pg with another girl I was wondering about using Brevin for a girl. I think the middle name will be Faith because I have Hope and Grace for my other two girls middle names and wanted to stick with that theme. So Brevin Faith? Anybody like it for a girl? I am on the fence but I do like the name and this will most likely be our last so I'll never use it for a boys name. Thanks for any input!

To me (and this is just a personal opinion), Brevin is very masculine-sounding (not unisex, like Reese or Avery, but masculine, like Bruce or Stan). Also, I don't think that it goes well with Chloe or Avery, at all, in terms of style. Compared with these names, Brevin sounds kind of clunky (to me).
What about Audrey, Phoebe, Shelby, Bailey, Peyton, Sophie, Tamsin, Della, Nella, Brianna?
Brevin is NMSAA for a girl OR a boy, and I agree with the PP that it sounds made up. I HAVE however heard of the name Bevin/Bevan. I have known a man named that and I found it not an especially "masculine-sounding" name when I first met him. That was the first time I had ever heard of it. On the recent season of "the Bachelor", there was a woman named Bevin (not sure of the spelling) and I found it a bit odd at first since I had only ever met a man by that name, but as the show went on I grew more used to it and could really see it on a girl. For those reasons I would encourage you to use Bevan or Bevin for a girl instead of Brevin. It seems more feminine and less made-up to me and sounds better with Avery and Chloe.
Here are some other names you might like:

Thanks again! The more I've wrote it and said it the more I feel that it is a very masculine sounding name and just wouldn't fit. One question though: Someone had put Teagan as a suggestion. Is that said with a long "ee" sound or an "aa" sound like Meghan would? I do like that name but wasn't sure which way it was pronounced. Thanks!
P.S. Actually I think I'll post this as a separate message so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle. Thanks again!
