Hi all-
Just had the big discussion about names-- turns out he's not a fan of ANY of mine- "Too Old Fashioned"...where I think his are much too modern and trendy.

What do you think?

Audrey Caroline
Charles (nn Charlie)
Hallie Kate
Brendan
Eleanor(nn Nora) Diana

Other favorites include Baylor (b), Cecily, Patrick, Matthew, Ava, Charlotte, Noah, Nolan, Seamus, Scarlett, Abby, Sawyer, Ansley, Grace and Madeleine.

Are mine too old-fashioned? He's all about the Dylan, Logan, Jessica names... lovely, but just nms.... Any suggestions on anything that is between modern and old-fasioned?

Charlotte Nicole, Charlotte Isabel, Charlotte Kathryn, Charlotte Rose, Charlotte Audrey
Hallie Kate - cute- not old fashioned - Hallie Dawn, Hallie Rose, Hallie Jeanine, Hallie Sabrina
Ava Simone, Ava Josephine, Ava Diane, Ava Jeanine, Ava Michelle, Ava Kristine, Ava Celeste
Eleanor(nn Nora) Diana (sounds the oldest from your list) - Eleanor Charlotte, Eleanor Sophie, Eleanor Belle, Eleanor Cecilia, Eleanor Alexis

I absolutely LOVE your style of names! Maybe you could do a compromise with Charles, and use the nn Chas/Chaz instead, which is more unique and less old-fashioned? I ADORE the name Scarlett, I have to say. It is my favourite from your list. The only two I don't like are Baylor and Brendan. I like Hallie a lot, and its not old-fashioned at all. What are his thought on that one? What about Lily or Claire? Or maybe Evelyn or Evangeline with nn Evie?

Your style is much more like mine, I am not a fan of the trendier names.

Audrey Caroline--I think this is very pretty and my top pick for you!
Charles (nn Charlie)--very cute and not often heard anymore. Classic.
Hallie Kate--not my favorite, but still pretty
Brendan--LOVE it, as its my oldest son's name!!!!!
Eleanor(nn Nora) Diana--Very pretty!

Of your other favorites, I like Patrick (not Pat), Noah, and Nolan for boys. For girls, Cecily, Scarlett, Ansley are my picks!

Your names rock! I love all of them. You simply have to change his mind or somehow pull the trump card right after you deliver. You simply mustn't name a child Jessica that could have been named Scarlett, Audrey, Eleanor or Charlotte. The only compromise name on your list is Ava, which doesn't have the same feel to me as the others. It may appeal more to your husband than the others.

I totally agree! I may be pulling the trump card on this one.. I'm sure it will get harder with future children though! Right now (although it does change far TOO often) I'm loving Audrey, Scarlett, and Eleanor... If its a girl, she may very well be Nora. Somehow, that just sounds very sweet to me, and like a name she can grow up with but still be comfortable with in adulthood.

Thank you so much for your feedback. I've fallen in love with so many classic names that I can't imagine going for a more modern name now... but perhaps a more modern middle name will make him like it more.

I've considered doing a "I'll name the first... you can name the second" sort of deal, as I'm sure (hopefully) there are more to come... It still makes me nervous though- our naming styles are so very, very different. Hopefully he'll come to love my names with time.

Any more suggestions, let me know!

Thanks for the feedback!
I loved your suggestion of Chaz-- I'd love to do Chaz but thats one of my best friends names unfortunately, so it looks like if we go with the name Charles, it will have to be a Charlie. DH isn't too psyched about Charlie though, so we'll see... we may be looking for other boy names....
Thanks again for your feedback!

I like your list very much, but I can see how someone who likes Jessica and Logan would think it's old fashioned or at least that some of the names are a little heavy. You and I have similar taste, though. (And possibly similar names. Are you actually Eliza-Kate? As I am Kate Eliza, that would be really coincidental).

For what it's worth, here's a list of few names that might fall in between:

Nina
Bridget
Jaqueline
Melissa
Simone
Jessa
Ashley
Clarice/Clarissa

Lyndon
Bennett
Darwin
Evan

Hmm... I'm having trouble with the boy names. I guess I don't see a huge difference in style between Brandon, Logan, Nolan and Sawyer...

Audrey Caroline (too much, one or the other)
Charles (nn Charlie) (for a girl, possibly, for a boy, very traditional)
Hallie Kate (Hallie Katherine or Katherine Hallie)
Brendan (LOVE)
Eleanor(nn Nora) Diana (very regal sounding)
Baylor (b) (noo, not giving the right charm to it),
Cecily (ok),Ava (very diva sounding, love it), Charlotte (thinking Charlotte's web and also Sex and the City), Noah (ok) , Nolan (love), Seamus (no), Scarlett (old fashion) , Abby (short for something), Sawyer (no), Ansley (ok), Grace (thinking Grace Kelly) and Madeleine (tres traditional, but nice)

Classics are the new 'in' except for really wierd names like Apple and Seven. I love classic names, but there has to be schematic to it. I don't want to send my child to school and the teacher looks at the name and says to herself, what were your parents thinking...
