DH and I ended up choosing Aaron's name in the delivery room and his MN a couple days later. He wrote our choices (we had narrowed it to only 2)on the dry erase board in L&D. I still wonder sometimes if we made the best choice of which name first (it was between Aaron and Duncan - Duncan lost out because it's my maiden name & was a little weird to get over it as a LN) We went through lots of names because we didn't like anything the other came up with! I think I'd at least talk about it beforehand, it was kind of stressful to wait.
I personally could never do it- but I am a planner. You are going to have a lot going on once the baby is born and choosing a name from the start of the process is a lot of pressure. I just wouldn't want to be under the pressure at the same time all the other changes will be taking place. Would it be possible to share lists ahead of time and make a list of, say, 5 or 6 names you BOTH like, and then wait until sheis born and decide from those?
I don't see anything wrong with it...we took nine names to the hospital with our son. (Well, we didn't know what we were having, so we technically took ten...nine boy names and one perfect girl name.)

I don't think I could do it either.
