Not a fan of any of the female names, but Forrest is really nice, and I'd use Church as a mn for either gender (it's quite surnamey to me, so I think it works).

I'd use Forrest, Church, and maybe even Devilrow for mn's for a boy. I'd use Zelma or Merle or mn's for girls. I read your response about Merle, but I knew a very nice lady named Merle when I was little.

A couple of those ARE on our family trees! (My partner's beloved grandmother is Eula and her twin sister is Beulah.) The only one on the list that jumps out to is Forrest. I've always loved Forrest. Although I think Zelma and Edna would really grow on me given time.

I'm a HUGE lover of using family names. But I don't think that means I am required to use a name I hate (or a name that the namesake hates). I'm all for using a middle name, a surname, or a variation of the name. My grandmother was Carole, but we plan to use Caroline in her honor. I think Carole is dated and Caroline is a classic. So we're not using her exact name, but it's still very much in my grandmother's honor. And as much as we love Jamie's grandmother, Eula just isn't a name we could use. But her surname is Hollis and we love that and plan to use it.

I really like Forrest. While I don't really love any of the others, if I really wanted to honor the family member with that name I'd use it for the mn spot. My precious, precious grandfather's name is Garland--not a name I particularly like in and of itself, but it's HIM and so I will absolutely use it if given the chance... :)

Forrest would work, and Church could be a good MN. Zelma could be kind of a funky twist on Selma that would be kind of fun. The others are nmsaa but if you were really close to the person you could do them as a MN.
