Your ideas? Just curious. ;)

IF we do decide to go with the ever-popular Abigail for baby girl #3 (as it seems my husand may want to, especially with the whole "father's joy" meaning lol), I was just wondering what middle name everyone would pair with it?

We were really considering Claire (and still are), but I'm beginning to think if we do use a popular name I'd like to give her a unique/different mn (like my other two, Kaitlyn Abrielle and Devanie Rose ... Kaitlyn and Rose being rather popular, and Abrielle and Devanie being quite unique, KWIM?). That way she'd have some options, especially if she ends up being one of five Abigails in her class (for example, if she has a unique mn, she could possibly use both in school to differentiate herself from the other girls named Abigail, something she cannot do if she also has a common mn that might be shared with another little Abigail, if that makes sense). Maybe I'm putting too much thought into that, but growing up in the 80's as a Kelli Ann, I knew at least 3 other girls in school/church etc. with the exact same fn/mn combo (usually spelled Kelly, of course, but being called "Kelli with an i" gets old fast lol), so I'd like to avoid that for her if I can.

Also, as long as I'm looking, it'd be nice if it were an Irish/Scottish/Welsh-type name to go along with her big sisters' (and I know lots of you on here are great with sibling sets so have fun! lol).

Looking back on my loooooong list from a few months back (and from my pregnancy with Devanie last year lol), a few I would consider are:

Aine
Elsha
Emlyn
Enora
Erea
Erienne
Fiona
Isleen/Islene
Isla (love this ... not sure about the flow, however)
Isla-Claire (hyphenated or not, just to give her the option of using both or either ... making a concession here, but only because the two are both so short I think it could work lol)
Isolde (although now that that movie's coming out I'm afraid this may be the next big "trendy" type name, which makes me really sad) :(
Izett (would avoid the trendiness of the Isolde spelling, but I'm not sure I'm quite as fond of this variation)

Ok, as I said, they're from my long list! lol (And that's not even all of them!)

Anyway, if you think any of these would work well with Abigail _________ McCormick, I'd love to hear some opinions (haven't really gotten to give any serious thought yet, thus the lengthy list). Maybe you can help me narrow it down.

Also, I'd really REALLY appreciate any other suggestions! I know you guys are great at this, so have at it! :)

TIA!

~Kelli

I like Fiona and Isla from your list. I think they both have great flow with the fn and ln. I like the name Claire, but don't prefer it with your ln.

Good Luck in choosing! :)

I really like Claire and despite the popularity of Abigail (btw we have lots of Abbeys and Abbys at my school, but none go by Abigail) I love it. How cute is this??:

Abbie Claire McCormick

Adorable, if you ask me. If there are a lot of Abigails, Abbie Claire is just great, IMHO...All those "A"s and "I"s are cute!!!!

Thanks, Crystal.

That was the other possible problem with Claire. Not sure exactly what you don't like about it with our ln, but my thought was that it sounded really abrupt as far as the C/K sounds go (Abigail Claire McCormick). Is that what you hear too?

Fiona was my 4-year-old (Shrek fanatic rofl) daughter's suggestion long ago, but I actually really like it so I've kept it on there. :)

Isla is probably my absolute favorite if I had to pick one. I just didn't know how well it flowed because of the L sounds in both names - Abigail Isla McCormick. Maybe a little tongue-twistery (not a word? lol), but not too bad I'm hoping. Worst case senario, I figure it sounds a bit like Abigail Lila (long I). Not terrible?

Anyway, thanks for the input, and great choices btw. ;)

I LOVE Fiona, and it's a name you don't hear very often. Abigail Fiona would definitely be my pick. I love the name Abigail too, I don't blame you for wanting to use it even though it's popular. I really like the idea of giving her a more unique middle name to set it off, though. Abigail Claire is really pretty, but I like the uniqueness factor of Abigail Fiona.

That's actually a bit of a running joke between my husband and I ... Abbie Claire (as in, it sounds exactly like Ab Eclair - the chocolate-covered, cream-filled pastry). I think it's a cute little at-home nn but think it might lead to a bit of teasing if used publicly. ;)

Incidentally, I thought it was really interesting that you spelled Abby/Abbey this way when mentioning the ones at your school, but Abbie (my preferred spelling if we do use Abigail) with our ln. LOL Just an interesting observation (did I mention it somewhere or am I sending out Abbie vibes?).

Thanks for the input! :)

Thanks, Annie ... glad to hear I'm not crazy in my reasoning here. ;) As I mentioned in my original post, growing up with two really common names just kind of makes me want to give my children options, and I really like the something popular/something more uncommon link my two girls (so far lol) share, so I'd love to come up with a similar combo for this little one. :)

Thanks for the reassurance!

I have a friend named Natalie Clare, and there's that "e-clair" thing; she said it was never a problem. But she wasn't called Natalie Clare either -- like you might call this dd Abbie Clare. Have you thought about reversing the names? I love the name Clare (I prefer the more traditional without-the-i spelling) -- I have a daughter named Clare -- and Clare Abigail is very pretty.

I quite like the "k" sound flowing through, as in Abigail Claire McCormick.

As a variation of Isla, what about Abigail Kyla McCormick?
