IF we do decide to go with the ever-popular Abigail for baby girl #3 (as it seems my husand may want to, especially with the whole "father's joy" meaning lol), I was just wondering what middle name everyone would pair with it?

We were really considering Claire (and still are), but I'm beginning to think if we do use a popular name I'd like to give her a unique/different mn (like my other two, Kaitlyn Abrielle and Devanie Rose ... Kaitlyn and Rose being rather popular, and Abrielle and Devanie being quite unique, KWIM?). That way she'd have some options, especially if she ends up being one of five Abigails in her class (for example, if she has a unique mn, she could possibly use both in school to differentiate herself from the other girls named Abigail, something she cannot do if she also has a common mn that might be shared with another little Abigail, if that makes sense). Maybe I'm putting too much thought into that, but growing up in the 80's as a Kelli Ann, I knew at least 3 other girls in school/church etc. with the exact same fn/mn combo (usually spelled Kelly, of course, but being called "Kelli with an i" gets old fast lol), so I'd like to avoid that for her if I can.

Also, as long as I'm looking, it'd be nice if it were an Irish/Scottish/Welsh-type name to go along with her big sisters' (and I know lots of you on here are great with sibling sets so have fun! lol).

Looking back on my loooooong list from a few months back (and from my pregnancy with Devanie last year lol), a few I would consider are:

Aine
Elsha
Emlyn
Enora
Erea
Erienne
Fiona
Isleen/Islene
Isla (love this ... not sure about the flow, however)
Isla-Claire (hyphenated or not, just to give her the option of using both or either ... making a concession here, but only because the two are both so short I think it could work lol)
Isolde (although now that that movie's coming out I'm afraid this may be the next big "trendy" type name, which makes me really sad) :(
Izett (would avoid the trendiness of the Isolde spelling, but I'm not sure I'm quite as fond of this variation)

Ok, as I said, they're from my long list! lol (And that's not even all of them!)

Anyway, if you think any of these would work well with Abigail _________ McCormick, I'd love to hear some opinions (haven't really gotten to give any serious thought yet, thus the lengthy list). Maybe you can help me narrow it down.

Also, I'd really REALLY appreciate any other suggestions! I know you guys are great at this, so have at it! :)

TIA!

~Kelli

Regarding the spelling, its true that there is only the Abbey or Abby spelling in my school (about 400 kids, K-5, and there are 9 of them). My best friend is a Stacie so I just really like to use an "ie" when possible.
I did grow up with an Abbie. Her full name is Abigail Victoria Kammerzell which is a mouthfull but I love it.
As for the eclaire thing, you have a point but 1. there are worse nicknames out there and 2. I don't think kids even know what eclaires are!

Really? We loved eclairs when we were growing up (oddly enough, Shop Rite's bakery made wonderful ones, so it's not like we were spoiled or anything lol). ;)~ I'll have to go get my 4-year-old an eclair right now! hehehe

LOL! E-clair that's funny. WEll, hmmmm, since you seem to be SOO in love with this name *devilish grin* instead of the other one. Is Sadie out for a mn for Abigail? That still sounds really pretty. Or...let's see along the lines of your other girly's names.

Abigail Sadie

Abigail Rachelle (Rochelle)

Abigail Maeve (pulls in the "irish-ness" of your other girls) (too much "M" with ln?)

Abigail Nicole

Abigail Rae (Abbie Rae awwww) (kinda plain though which totally defeats your whole Q lol oops)

Abigail Niamh (more irish connection here too)

Abigail Paige

Abigail I ran out of mn ideas already

LOL, I'll try to post back if I think of anymore. But JMO, Abigail Claire sounds perfectly fine with your ln. So, if that's your fave go for it. And if that's the worst she can be called is e-clair or some form of it. I envy the kid :)

Well, my husband certainly seems to be in love with Abigail (and now he's got my 4-year-old calling my belly that - sneaky, huh? - soooooo ...). lol

I did think of a way to avoid the popular Abby nns and possibly make us all really happy - using the nn Aila, which is another shorter name I loved and just figured out is the end of AbigAIL (see post in the Girls section). Is that weird? I would just love it. ;)

Sadie is definitely not out as a mn ... it was actually dh's second choice for Abigail (but his first choice for Aveline ... only because he thought each flowed a teeny bit better with those respective fns, but we definitely haven't made a decision here lol).

Regarding your other inspired suggestions: ;)

Abigail Rachelle (Rochelle) - I knew a little girl named this who was really snotty (lol), but Rachel and Richael have been on our mn list since the last pregnancy (and I, too, thought of the Abbie Rae nn with this one lol)

Abigail Maeve (pulls in the "irish-ness" of your other girls) (too much "M" with ln?) - I didn't want to use Maeve or a form of it because it's my cousin's name, and her sister's name happens to be Devin (which Devanie can be considered a form of), so I didn't want to look like I was "stealing" all their girls' names lol ... I also considered quite a few M mns and thought it might be too much with our ln, as you mentioned

Abigail Nicole - too 80s for me, and another cousin's mn (Megan Nicole ... big family lol)

Abigail Rae (Abbie Rae awwww) (kinda plain though which totally defeats your whole Q lol oops) - you said it ;)

Abigail Niamh (more irish connection here too) - really like this one, but my husband is afraid of anything that would so easily be mispronounced here in the US

Abigail Paige - never liked this because all I can think of is a book page or the meaning of "pageboy" lol (just me, I know)

Thanks for the input! I'll check back later to see if you got over your "writer's block" and thought of any more LOL

Well I like Aine :) Abigail Aine McCormick sounds nice. The others don't quite flow to me. Good luck!
