Your *real* name and your nn.....

Nicknames are interesting to me. So far for my boys, I have picked names that you can't shorten to nicknames (Brendan and Aaron)--not really done intentionally, but it was a thought.

But what is your real name as opposed to your nickname??

Mine--Theresa is my real name but family and those who have known me since very early grade school call me Terrie.

My son Aaron--only I call him "my little bear" or now I just say "bear" when I need him quick. Annoying probably in another year or so.......he's only 2 now so I can still get away with it.

So, what about you????

My full name is Meredith Anne. Since I was little various people have called me Annie. I never use it for official things, but all my friends are aware of the nn and use it occassionally. Some always call me Annie.

Now I use Meredith a lot more, but people tend to shorten it to "Mere" out of laziness I guess, and I HATE THAT. It grates on me so bad.

My name is Suzanne. But lots of close friends call my Suzy, my older sister calls me Lucy, my grandma and aunt still to this day call me Susu along with little kids who cant say my name, and my name is lots of times shortened to the one syllable Suz. Good thing I love nicknames!

My name is Kate. Just Kate. And the same mother who named me "just Kate," went on to give me all kinds of nicknames that are way longer than my actual name. Unfortunately, one of them leaked out into the outside world because my friends heard her calling me a pet name and thought it was so hilarious they ran with it.

That name, for which I have *no* explanation other than that mothers are very, very weird, is Klinkhoffer. Yes, like Klinghoffer (as in Leon, the wheelchair-bound man killed by Palestinian terrorists in 1985). But with a twist, like Colonel Klink from Hogan's Heroes.

A number of my friends (along with my mother) call me Klinky. I'm very weirded out by the whole thing and have been since I was little. It's just bizarre and defies reason.

I was never called Katie. I am not a Katie. It wouldn't have made sense. I don't look or act like a Katie. Then again, I don't think I look or act like a Klinky, but what can I do?

My full name is Kelli, and I have always wished I had a longer name with a cool nn (other than Kel - which is just lazy LOL - or Kelli Belly, which should go without saying - especially in my current pregnant state ROFL).

We tried to give our daughters longer names with some nn potential (some of which we've used, and some that are just for future use if they want them). We have ...

Kaitlyn Abrielle - usually goes by her full name Kaitlyn, but there are certain family members who call her Kate or Katie almost exclusively, and now that my one-year-old is starting to talk the closest she can get is "Kate" ... oh, and my mother calls her Katie-badatie (even I don't know how to spell it, but you get my point LOL)

Devanie Rose - whom we vowed would never be Dev or Devi, but is often called Dev or Devi LOL She also gets Rosie or Rosie-posie a lot (partly due to her mn and partly her always-happy personality) ;) She also answers to Anie (from the end of her name, said like Annie) or Anie-bananie (she loves bananas LOL), but only one or two people ever call her that (myself included)

Abigail Fiora - the only one of our girls to have a definite nn prior to birth ;) She gets called Aila (again, from the end of her name for anyone unfamiliar) as often as she does Abigail (and it's pretty cute that Devanie can say this ... she'd never be able to say Abigail ... we're still working on dada, after all LOL). My four-year-old, Kaitlyn, has also given her quite a few nns of her own already, including "Baby Aila Twinkle" and "Princess Fiora" LOL

My name is Kelsey, but close friends call me Kels. Though I have had people call me Kel or Kay (which I can't stand). My brother is Spencer and his friends call him Spence, I call him Spencie. My mom doesn't like when people call him Spence though, it bugs her.

I tend to like names that you can't get nicknames out of best. I'm not a nicknamey person.

My daughter's name is Alley. I love the name Alley, its cute and short. But everyone askes me what it is short for. It bugs me. Nothing people, just Alley. But then my mom went as far as to call her Al. I got really angry for who knows what reason. I mean, how lazy do you have to be that you cant say Alley. Now she does it to irritate me. She thinks its funny. I guess its just one of those pet peeves.
She has always called me Jamitroid. And little Lucy. She still calls me that.

My real name is Patricia and I've only been called that at school, when they have your full name or when my mother was mad! When I was born, my much older (5 yo) sister was given the choice of what to call me: Pat, Patty, or Patsy. She chose Patsy, which is what I was called until I graduated from college. Wasn't bad, except people can't spell it for some reason and I'd get it written as Pasty.

Once I got out into the "real" world, I started going by Pat, which works better with my married name anyway. However, I have moved back to my hometown and folks that knew me when I was growing up still call me Patsy. It makes it hard when signing Christmas cards - I have to remember what the people know me as.

I haven't minded the nn - I'm rarely a "Patricia", which sounds much more serious and elegant than me.

My name is Tiane...say it like Diane but with a T.
My family usually calls me Ti or Ti Ti. Growing up I would not let anyone outside of the family call me Ti. But now I when I introduce my self I say..my name is Tiane...after the puzzled look I say...just like Diane but with a T...then I say you can call me Ti if you'd like. Most people stick with Tiane...I'm fine either way.

my name is Casey Jean and when I was little I went my C.J a lot... my friends and those close called me C.J. and my mom called me Casey Jean in full...Some people called me Case, other then that though I now go by just Casey...

my husband Sean doesn't really have a 'Nickname' every one calls him Sean...his guy friends call him McCoy...(which i can't stand, but then again they call all of each other by last names' ...Something I always found funny is that his family don't pronounce Sean the way I and most other people do. They say Shaan, but I have always pronounce the name the everyday way (shawn). I have a couple nicknames for him but none having to do with his name...i call him the normal Honey and baby...

Braidyn Gunnar- mostly goes by Braidy...or Bray...or Braidyn...lmao i don't know he goes by all three equally...my husband calls him Peanut cause hes a little shorter then brennan...

Brennan Hunter- goes by brennan, Brenn, Brennie...thats about it...I call him pumpkin just cause its cute....

Riorden Shaynne - He goes by Rory, some people call him Rio ( his grandpa from seans side), and a few people call him Shay from his middle name (which I hate but I gave up being annoyed by it cause his uncles call him that and they just do it to piss me off, and they think its funny) One of his uncles have gone so far to start calling him Rory O'Shea...I don';t know if anyof you have seen the movie Rory O'Shea was here...i haven't seen it but his uncle has and thats what he calls him...whatever!!!

Thats it i think

thats was interesting
