Hi, I am Monica due 10/21 with baby #2 (a surprise). I lurk here often and appreciate your opinions. My ds who is almost 3 is Evan. His name was near 40 when he was born and now it is 29.
I just wanted to know your thoughts on Audrey. It was #49 in 2006. Our other girl name is Leah which was #59. I think we are leaning toward Audrey more now, but I am concerned that it will rise in popularity quickly like the other "old fashioned" names Olivia and Sophia did (both in the top 10 in 2006). Ironically, Olivia was one of my favorite girl names when I was in high school 12 years ago, when it was rarely even heard of!
I am happy with having my kids names be in the 25 and up range, just don't want them to end up having a really popular name (top 20). For some reason Leah doesn't worry me, but I have a feeling Audrey is going to become trendy! Your thoughts??
Thanks for your help!
Monica

Hi, just wanted to let you know that we're considering (and yet also, not considering) Audrey for the very same reason you are.
It is my #1 choice for our dd due in September, and I love how it sounds with our dd Anna (who is actually Annabelle), but I do agree that it is rapidly becoming quite popular. I don't mind having a child w/ a semi-popular name (I realize Anna/Annabelle is pretty popular too), but I don't want there to be 3 in her kindergarten class KWIM?
What a dilemma!
Leah and Audrey are both gorgeous- that is a tough one! I'll admit that I can see Audrey becoming more popular than Leah, but not dangerously so. Both would be lovely choices.

I named my daughter Audrey (she's 15 months old). She goes to day care, and there isn't one in her class, or in the other classes around hers in age.
My DH and I loved the fact that it was a classic and pretty name. We wanted something not heard often but not unheard of! We thought Audrey was pretty and cute on a baby/young girl, and a name that grows up well into a woman's name.
Leah is nice too though.
Good Luck!
Laura
Edited to add: I think Aubree/Aubrey and Avery are going to become more popular than Audrey.

I absolutely LOVE Audrey and I hope you use it. I will say, though, that I do think its coming back.

Thank you ladies so much! We will use the middle name Catherine which is my mothers middle name, which I love because it is classic as well, and goes well with either Audrey or Leah.
You have made some great points and I really appreciate it!! HUGS!!
