Hi,

I am currently 20wks pg for the 2nd time, and have had a cerclage in place since 13 wks; first pg ended at 21 wks due to IC -

The Peri has me on mod-bed-rest and told me to call her if I have any of the following:

Weird discharge (aka mucus plug!), bleeding, rectal pressure, contractions or cramping.

Well, I have been crampy all day today, low in my pelvis area and sort of a dull throbbing crampy, like day 2-3 of AF - But it is not really painful or anything. It is hard to tell what is a potential problem b/c of all the so-called "normal" cramping, pulling, tugging, etc of pg in general!

So I am wondering what you think - Should I be concerned about these cramps?

TIA for your valuable input!

I would call just to put your mind at ease....it's probably nothing to worry about but that's what your doc's there for and my motto is better safe then sorry. I too have IC but i also have a history of pre-term labor to go with it... so much fun. I'm kinda in your same boat I too had he same thing your describing this was last wensday. My doc ha me go in to L&D for an hour of observation i was sent home and everything seemed fine. Later that evening though i di start having actual contractions my doctor now has me on brethane. So far it's working and my stitch is holding up.... I'm not saying that this is what will happen with you but i was sure glad i called.....

Good luck and hang in there.... btw when's your due date? Mine's 8/10 we must be close....

If you have a history, it's difficult not to be worried. To ease your mind, I agree with the previous post- call your doc! It can't hurt. It's probably nothing, but better to be safe...

Good luck. I'll say prayers that it's just nothing!

Tara,

For what it is worth, I am going through the same thing. I am 23 weeks, cerclage placed at 13 weeks, last pregnancy ended at 24 weeks due to IC/PTL. I was very crampy last Thursday, and I was nervous. So I called my doctor, went in to see them, and got an exam, as well as listened to the baby's heartbeat. I felt so much better after going to the doctor! All I had to do was take it easy for the weekend, and drink a lot of water. If anything got worse, I was to call in, but nothing did.

For your own peace of mind, I would call if I were you. It certainly helped me feel better about the situation!

I would err on the side of caution and call your dr. It could very well be the baby and uterus is going through a growth spurt causing some cramping. Your dr will likely to check to make sure you are not contracting. When I'm cramping, I can't feel if I'm contracting and if I get on the monitor, the contracts do show up.

give your dr a call and let us know what she says. come join us over at the bedrest board. There are many cerclagers over there also!

TY Sybil, I appreciate the input and I confess I do lurk on the bedrest board occasionally (blush) but I am only on mod-br right now, so didn't feel like I fully belong there as a member f/t!!

Good Luck to you !!

Thank you all for your wonderful and important feedback - I *did* call and the Peri put me on total BR until today, at which point she said to go in for u/s if the pain was still there (but it isn't - thank goodness! I think the BR and *lots* of water helped) and so now I will just go to my regularly-scheduled check-up tomorrow.

I really appreciated hearing from you and will officially de-lurk under the RollCall section - it is nice to know there are others out there with such similar situations, even though I really wish it weren't such a complicated/scary one!!

Good Luck to us all,

Tara
