I'm usually on the IVF board and pop over here to see some of the grads post.
Hi, thank you for your advice.
Make sure if you take her it's to a therapist that specializes in children.
Hi Kristy,Fiona is younger than Maiya but began acting out A LOT after we brought Mack home. It is normal. She is probably seeing/hearing lots of baby preparations around there and she may just be acting out to get your attention. This is a big transition for her. She's been the princess for 7 years.
Boundaries are so important. I know you mentioned you haven't set limits for her. I find that Fiona is really pushing her limits now and we've had to really be strict about the limits we've set for her. We have been having family meetings frequently where we discuss our expectations and make a "family plan" that we post on the fridge. She can't read it but it helps us a lot when we need a reference point.
I'm sure if you have access to counseling, you would both benefit from learning how to adjust to your new life. Perhaps even helping you figure out areas where you want to help set boundaries for her.
Good luck. The transition from one child to two has been a tough road over here on Kauai. ;)
Thank you for your help.
