Another CIO Question

Margaux is doing 'ok' on CIO and getting to sleep in the crib vs. her carseat.

We put her down between 7 - 7:30 pm. She is now going down and going to sleep right away with no crying, but wakes about 30 mins later, and cries for about 20 mins. Then, goes back down. Then, throughout the night she wakes and cries. We do not go in there, we just let her CIO, but she is waking up still. Sometimes 3 or 4 times between going down at 7:15pm and waking at 3:30am to eat. She then goes back down no crying and wakes again between 5:30 - 6am and CIO again - again, and we said that we would not go in and get her until 7am. and actually, she has been sleeping until 7:30am.

Her naps have also shortened from 1.5 - 2 down to 30 mins. No fun! But, we are working on that.

I guess my question is -- when everyone says their babies "go down and sttn until 7 or so", are they waking up like this and crying/fussing or are they sleeping straight through with no crying? Again, this is only day 4 of this. Is this normal? Should we be doing anything different?
Thanks.
Kelly

Hi, Kelly-

I don't think what you described is unusual.

Thanks Reena. That is kind of what I thought, but wasn't sure. Especially about waking in the sleep cycles. I remember reading that somewhere. She is doing MUCH better. Went down last night at 7pm and didn't wake until 4pm to eat and then slept until 8:45am! Now...just working on her naps. She used to be so good when sleeping in the carseat, now she wakes up a little more often and naps less. Naps are so important, so I am working to get back to her 1 - 2 hr naps.

Thanks!
Kelly

Sounds like you are doing a great job! At only 4 days in she is getting the hang of it! Sara still wakes up at night sometimes - she usually just sits up and looks around for a little while or even walks around her crib but she goes back down. She sometimes fusses but not often. The problem is that when she gets sick CIO goes out the window and then we have to retrain her for a few days. You are going in the right direction. Naps will work themselves out when the night sleep does.
