Alicia -

How old and how big is your child? I have a lot of information about car seats (and we've owned 5 different kinds of seats - almost all bought in pairs! - with just 2 children). My recommendation will largely be based on the size of the car seat. We just bought a new seat for Marcus that is great for him (at 4 years, 42 in tall, and 42lbs), but I wouldn't use it for Isabelle because she's so little. Also, Isabelle's favorite seat is one that Marcus doesn't like as well because of his size.

Do you have a budget in mind? How often will you be using the seat. What car seat do

it's for a two and three month old kid who is 31 pounds and 37 inches. we plan to spend like $300 if it helps buy something great for long car trips.

thanks so much!

She's about the size of my Isabelle - but Isabelle is 4 years old! I found that what has been the best for comfort for long car rides is still having Isabelle ride rear-facing. She's more reclined rf so she's able to sleep better. She also was feeling car sick the first time we had her forward-facing in the car - but we took a very windy road up the mountains that trip. If you have

We got a Britax Frontier and I LOVE it!!! We got it for my 6 year old when she outgrew her Marathon. She can stay harnessed until 80 lb and then it converts to a high-back booster to 100 lb. The best part is that it doesn't expire for NINE years, so when she outgrows it we'll pass it down to either Sarah or Ben, depending on their sizes at the time. So far I've only found two negatives. 1. It's a big seat, so if you have a small car it might not fit well and 2. it can't be installed in the 3rd row of our minivan. She's too heavy to use LATCH and the seatbelt wasn't long enough. Otherwise it's great. She has a lot of room. It's easy to adjust and she is able to get into it with minimal help. She has developmental delays so getting into her old carseat was hard for her, but this one doesn't sit up off the seat like others, so she can get her butt on the edge and scoot back. She hadn't slept in the car in a long time unless she was beyond tired and she's fallen asleep in this one a few times, so it must be comfortable.
