Birth control after ivf?

Hi there. I uses to be a regular on the ttc and ivf boards way back when. I am now a proud mommy of a 3yo dd and a 1yo ds. We have been so blessed! All of our viable embryos have been transferred, so we have no plans to have any more children. We are actually enjoying the thought of getting out of the diaper stage, etc.
Well, my period is 4 days late. I am sure it will show up any day now, but it has really got me thinking about whether we should be using birth control. I always thought, if it happens it happens. But, the reality of it is a little confusing. Of course we would be thrilled, but I just wonder if we should be more proactive in this situation. Our fertility issue was with dh's sperm count and motility, so it is still entirely possible that we could get pregnant the old fashioned way, even though it has never happened before in the 7 years of our marriage.
So, I imagine thy I may not be the only person on the world that has dealt with this issue. What have u all done, if u don't mind sharing.
Thanks so much. Best wishes to all!

I am going to talk to doc about iud and other options after this. I would prefer to avoid hormones, too.

Thanks for coming by! I am not quite done yet so we haven't gone there yet but my plan is to get an IUD. I like the idea of not having to take hormones every day and the fact that they last for so long. A few of my friends have them and say good things about them.
Let us know what you decide and how you like it!

Heck, I'm interested to know too!
